The tip that guy gave regarding separating global KBs for generic how to guides and using processes for client specific is actually a really good idea. Mixing client specific information with generic information is about the biggest mistake I see companies make. Once you start going down that road, you end up with 55 radically different guides to add an AD user that will never be updated.

Opportunity cost is a huge part of making a bad hire. What did this company miss out on due to not having the right person in place? I also LOVE how you touch on how making the right hire is a great way to show your team that you value their skill set and contribution to the team. No one likes being rewarded with more work! Great job, Ben! You've hit the nail on the head here.

Great discussion. Agree with the approach of offering both pricing models. Making pricing simple to understand and easy to scale is key to building trust with the client. New revenue is important to growth, but growing profitable revenue is critical to long-term success. Every agreement must remain profitable throughout the life of the contract. Managed Services is a partnership (win-win), not a cost+ vendor relationship.
@EurekaProcess
@EurekaProcess 4 ай бұрын
Well said. Having a formula is a great, but so many forget about this partnership and thus fear the conversation required to make each agreement mutually profitable.

Does Hudu handle organisation locations naitively yet? When I heard that they do not, I thought it was similar to KFC not selling chicken wings... Say for instance you have 150 clients and 100 vendors and on average each organisation has 3 locations (some have one while some have 30) If you run a PSA like Connectwise then the locations naitively sync both ways. Having at least a one way sync of locations saves massive amounts of labour and prevents certain human error. Considering contacts and devices are almost always location centric, not having that feature is a massive failure for the product. Even worse, that feature request is among the most requested for at least 2 years. Such a shame. I would change over in a second if that one issue was rectified.
@EurekaProcess
@EurekaProcess 4 ай бұрын
This is great insight to help other make informed decisions. I bet many are working around this by relying on their PSA to do the work, but I'll also pass this comment along to their team. Who knows, maybe it will be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Configs are a bit more tricky as we've seen so many ways to use them, from documentation of client assets, to notes, to a way to tie the amount of problems a single device has. We'll look into this and see what we can do. Thanks for watching!

This is our daughter, talking about ADHD and how she views it not so much as a handicap, as a personality trait. Allen, her husband, is an IT guy, who has many contrasting gifts, in the way they work and think. Allen is very skilled at interviewing others about their work and inspiring them in improving their work processes. Thank you for teaching me something I had never considered about myself. Those who know me, have probably noticed that I have this gift too! haha

Very well said Liesl. It nice to see the amount of introspection and contemplation you have put into this subject because you wanted to learn about this aspect of your personality. I agree with your perspective 100% and I have never believed that ADHD is an actual disorder. The word disorder implies that there is something wrong with you when in fact nothing wrong with you. We are all gifted with different interests, skills and talents and we can't be boxed into either hunter or gatherer roles and expected to play limited roles in society. The current schooling system is designed to create zombies that learn things they are not interested in to become good workers with very little creativity or independent thought. The guy that invented the world ADHD admitted on his death bed that it does not actually exist. They are many factors that effect our attention span and levels to all aspects of our lives.

This is the most insightful perspective/explanation I have heard or read thus far. Our children struggled with the same symptoms in school and no one presented these "disorders" to us in this way. Wow, alot of pain could have been avoided with this information. Thank you for taking the time to capture this conversation!
@EurekaProcess

Thanks for saying so. I was fortunate that I didn't have to deal with this growing up, but I found it fascinating how I see Liesl (occasionally) struggle with it and yet be so successful. I thought it was a story worth sharing.

Just to provide a counter thought. one could argue that more numbers could add key strokes, depending on how often your team is searching. That being said, any system that makes sense and everyone is onboard with is going to make your documentation life easier.Thank you for suggesting and hopefully this will help someone else from ever having to renumber their entire documentation world!
