@lovethewayyoulivenaples no all the trees fell, Everywhere. Nothing has hit here for over 100 years. Then, the rivers flooded areas that had never flooded before. There's garbage everywhere. The whole bay area is under construction. Traffic is insane.

Estero has so much to offer!! And yes, the price point is lower than Naples which makes it such a great option for so many people @frankp7525

@GaryGettenberg, I am a Naples Realtor, but I do a lot of business in Estero and Bonita Springs. Living in SWFL is a lifestyle - one I happen to LOVE!!!

@SpearChuckUngawa Orlando definitely has some traffic issues. The last time I drove through there the highway seemed much better? Doesn't sound like it is improving in the city though...

@randysallade9468 they can be challenging to get on. We do have some great public and semi-private courses - just not a lot of them.

I agree completely @micheleh4016 !!! It is at the top of my list for North Naples communities. I haven't gotten to that video yet :-)

Pelican Bay is not in Naples

@derjaeger3321 that can be a problem here! The good news is that properties that were built later (2000-now) tend to be on lots that were built up a bit. I have customers on Marco that are in homes built in the early 2000's and they had an inch of water in the garage, but no water intrusion or damage to the home. Building codes continue to improve. Condo living on the second floor or higher may be a better option if storm surge is a spoiler!! 😄

@@lovethewayyoulivenaples In was in the City Manager profession for 40 years; I look at a community from differing eyes. Even a mid level flooding event affects a locality for years, and in the first months or so life is totally changed. .And a major flood affects a community for a decade or more. No event can damage a structure and still let it standing more than a flood - and a 10 ft wall of fast moving water and 120 mile per hour winds can be total devastation. At my age the only way I would live in an island community is via a rental. Islands and water side communities are great, packed with beauty, and full of life, good fishing and full of recreational opportunities - but there is absolutely no such thing as a harmless body of water. One day it will turn and bite you. Hopefully just a finger nip but sometimes the whole arm or worse. But then that is the price one pays for all the beauty and fun.

As someone with great experience in the issues cities address all the time, you have a very different view and understanding of waterfront living. I do agree with you that for many, those challenges are worth it for the lifestyle island living offers. Thank you so much for your comments!!

@jonny5777, Naples is really lovely. The good news is Bonita Springs, North Naples, Marco Island and Estero all have similar characteristics at a lower price point if you decide SWFL is somewhere you would like to be! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!!

@Rudy32225 that can be a problem. The good news is Estero has Lee Health at Coconut Point which is a new hospital with 24 Hr Emergency Room. There are also several urgent care centers in Estero and Bonita Springs offering some good options within 30 minutes of most Estero communities.

Glad you had a good run here in Naples and Bonita Springs, @johnharper2016 !! I I love it here in Southwest Florida. After living in Denver for 25 years, the traffic and taxes in general are unbelievably better here. NC is a fun place to visit. We try to get up there for a week or two each summer. Hello @eddalal5892, home insurance costs can vary greatly as can flood insurance costs. The best option is to understand if a property is in a flood zone and if yes, do the sellers carry flood insurance. If they do, it can most likely be rewritten at a cost effective rate. Home Insurance costs by it's nature varies greatly based on deductible, location, size of the home, age of home, age of roof, etc. It is always wise to have a wind mitigation report done as well as a 4 point inspection which allows the insurance carrier to see the various ages/condition of items like AC, plumbing, Roof, Electrical and storm protection that the home has. This can significantly decrease the cost of insurance. When buying a condo, keep in mind that the condo master insurance policy will usually carry the flood insurance if needed and the exterior insurance such as walls/roof etc. I hope this helps!!!
