I caught my main queen on my 7th of July 2023, she’s still going strong. Around 50~ workers! She started off her colony with 3 other queens, when the workers emerged the other queens were killed off, and the colony then had 1 queen, the colony is going really well!

Really shows how much ants love sugar, leaving the cricket leg completely untouched to get the Lucozade. I have never seen ants go this crazy for honey, there must be a LOT of sugar in Lucozade.

Did you raise the redheat empire from a single queen? If so how long did it take for the colony to get to that size, I want to know as I caught a Myrmica Queen a little over a week ago, she was probably foraging after waking up from hibernation when I caught her.
@theantrookieАй бұрын
Hi no, when the redheat empire first arrived, it was a large colony. From 2022 to now, their size has significantly decreased

@theantrookie Жыл бұрын
Lol As a pro in the ant keeping world what are the challenges you have found keeping nico's. Since I started ant keeping in August 2021 camponotus have been the most rewarding and easy to keep. So far I have camponotus ligniperda and camponotus nicobarensis. Messor barbarus are very challenging, mine have all died and Manica rubida smh wow they are challenging too. My lasius flavus were doing well the the majority of the workers died recently.

@@theantrookie when they explode in size they can catch you off guard, they consume alot when they are a large colony and they are seriously great escape artists, over time they will pretty much break out of any set up!
