FIRST HALF OF THE MISSION ------------------------------------------------------ As Ninny ascends the stairs to her bedroom alongside Moominmamma for an overnight stay, she unveils her shoes, symbolizing the restoration of her confidence and the healing of her traumatic past. SECOND HALF OF THE MISSION ------------------------------------------------------ The Child of Light, the player, is huddled on the bed, overwhelmed by a sense of hopelessness, fearing eternal entrapment within the room. This mirrors Ninny's despair, feeling her destiny is bound to the confines of her home under the shadow of her caretaker's negative actions. Suddenly, a bright, warm light fills the room, and to the Child's astonishment, a butterfly descends, offering guidance out of their confinement, symbolizing a new beginning and the promise of hope. This butterfly could represent Too-Ticky, who first found Ninny, and became a beacon of hope and assistance for her. Following the butterfly through the hallway, the Child bypasses an obstructive chair, signifying their newfound autonomy and success in pursuing their ambitions. This echoes Too-Ticky leading Ninny from the household, empowering her with the choice to take control of her life and make the courageous decision to escape her neglectful caretaker. Upon leaving the dilapidated house, the Child is greeted by a long, sloping staircase, representing an ascent to greater heights in their reawakened life, leaving behind the darkness. This symbolizes Ninny embarking on a new chapter, breaking free from her troubled past.

Mission Explanation (Spoilers) ------------------------------------- FIRST HALF OF THE MISSION: The Child of Light, in the form of a Butterfly, arrives in Moominvalley amidst a dark thunderstorm, trailing two figures through the forest. Too-Ticky gestures to the space behind her, leading the Invisible Child, discernible only by the bell collar that jingles softly as they dash through the woods. Crossing the river that bisects their path, Too-Ticky and the child press on through the downpour until they reach a clearing with a tall, roundhouse. Ascending the front steps, Too-Ticky enters first, greeting the three Moomintrolls at the table inside. She then motions for the Invisible Child to come inside as well. Too-Ticky then revealed that the name of the Invisible Child is "Ninny," and was frightened by a lady who had taken care of her without showing any affection to her, which then led to Ninny becoming "invisible." Too-Ticky added that Ninny's previous caretaker was "horrid." Too-Ticky continues to explain as Ninny lingered in the doorway; "If people are frightened very often, they sometimes become invisible." Moominpapa warmly invited Ninny to join them, gesturing towards an empty seat at the table, as Too-Ticky assured her that she would find a new family with the Moomins. Just then, a butterfly alighted on Ninny's bell collar, restoring its bright, vibrant colors. ======================================================= SECOND HALF OF THE MISSION (Contains Sensitive Topics): As the Child of Light meditates beside the First Mission, a dark hallway with large, unlit chandeliers is revealed, the area submerged in floodwaters. The room contains a desk, a chair, a dressing drawer, and a shelf, with windows partially boarded up and the flood reaching nearly to the bed's height. The Child of Light wades through the waters towards an exit door ahead. Continuing through the long, flooded corridors and turning at each hallway's end, a door appears on the horizon. Approaching and opening the door, the child is dismayed to find themselves back where they began. The personification embodies Ninny's struggles. Flooded waters symbolize her feelings of helplessness and vulnerability amidst life's threatening events. It illustrates Ninny's fear and apprehension about potential misfortunes. As the Child of Light departs through the door and navigates the hallway, Ninny's discomfort grows with her concern for the unknown future. The light at the corridor's end signifies Ninny's newfound clarity and direction in life. The door symbolizes her future, and her dismay upon finding herself back in the same room reflects her sense of entrapment, constrained by life's limitations and barriers, both external and internal, as she longs for more freedom and self-determination from her neglectful caretaker.
