okay, what needs to be done now is someone make an NES emulator that runs in Doom, like one you can walk up to and press use and suddenly you're playing Super Mario Bros on an NES, on a computer screen, being played by Doom Guy in the game, on a raspberry pi, in a cartridge, in an NES being played by you and being watched on youtube. I think the next logical step after that should be obvious.

Having done this mod as well, I can clear some things up. - Yes, the Pi is being used to process the game, but does not handle the video output (similar to what the super FX does, but way more powerful) - the Pi has been downclocked and features disabled to limit the current being drawn from the NES. - Yes, The gaming is being played through the native controller port on the NES - Music is being handled by the NES and is written on the PRG-ROM - Not all the Music from Doom is there and for levels that have missing music the NES just plays music from one of the existing map songs These are the song: Intro, Inter, E1M1, E1M2, E1M3, E1M4, E2M1, E3M1 - The FX2LP Board (the blue one) is handling the image processing so it can send it to the NES's PPU to rasterize. It also handles the control inputs - There are no sound effects., but it might be possible to have it working by using the audio expansion on the NES, if I remember correctly those pins just carry analogue audio through.
