You too my good friend. We all have bad days that make us rethink our decisions in life. I honestly couldn't see you working for the man, you're the captain of you're own ship. 👍 great new video buddy, that was a lot of hedge trimming, don't think I've ever seen so many random conifers! May your God help you and you're loved ones receive everything that fills you're life with joy and happiness. Peace and love to you all.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas. Keep your chin up. I'm sure things will work out one way or another. By the way, I like the music.
@theconstantgardener7115 күн бұрын
Cheers Matt. Like I said, I'm a very positive person, so don't let it effect me. It's the not knowing or having a timeline in which I can put other plans into play that annoys the shit out of me. Cheers for the comments and I'll always try and keep the music on the rockier end of the scale. Hope you have a great Christmas.

If push comes to shove, Just go for it. You know what you're doing and enjoy it. Keep it simple, buy the good tools that are not too heavy on your body. Ask on here for suggestions, you'll do well you already have, it's easier than plastering.

Cheers Milton. I've definitely noticed the difference using the battery tools. I'm no way near as tired at the end of a long day. Have a great Christmas and thanks for the support.

Just found the channel, great honest first offering and looking forward to catching up with your future posts (or whatever they call them). You seem to be following exactly the same people as me, they have given me so much info too, although I still haven’t taken the plunge and started a business yet. One day I’ll get all my ducks in a row and take the leap, look forward to seeing your progress. Good luck and peace out and all that young person stuff ✌🏻

Hi Andy, cheers for the comment. I think if it's something you really want to do you just have to go for it. I'm quite lucky that I'm able to start part time and work my way in gradually, but sometimes you just have to just have to have faith in your own abilities and just go for it. Have a great Christmas.

Hi, cheers for the comment. I plan to do a lot more of the plant and veg growing content going forward as it's something I love. Doing all the garden maintenance stuff is great, but you need something else to break it all up. Have a great Christmas.

Another great little video. 100% with you about farmers and anyone that works the land. The most important job, with very little reward for the effort and time invested into it. The system has very shortsighted vision, destroying this industry for fast financial gain and no doubt boost to their investment portfolio. Can't say too much but plenty of lampposts and rope. As for the place currently working at, sorry to hear the added stress for your family, but the positive attitude is top notch, and as you said onwards and upwards. Good things will come to Good people.

Cheers buddy, nice to hear the support. The trick is not to get swallowed up in a void of self pity. You only have to look around you to realise that no matter how bad our situation is, there are a lot of people out there with far worse problems. I intend the next video to be a far happier episode. Thanks again for the comments.

Cheers for the comment Selwyn. I've had a good look at the Honda HRX 476 19", really liking what I see. Pretty expensive for my small setup at the moment, but may go down the reconditioned/second hand route. Time is on my side, so no immediate rush.

Keen to buy a new mower in November? It might be in the shed for a few months. Enjoying the vids.
@theconstantgardener71Ай бұрын
Cheers for the comment. I'm in no rush to get the new(ish) mower, just thought I'd start doing my homework now. Plus I've seen quite a good few deals appearing from manufacturers as this is their traditional off season in the UK, so maybe a good time to get more bang for my buck.

Another great video. Glad you recoup initial investment and good luck moving forward. The plant cuttings are great idea, I am lucky with some of customers I have as they encourage me to always take some cuttngs, and usually get some from the maintenance rubbish too. Vey neat and tidy raised beds etc. I need to sort out my home garden badly, but thankfully work is just too busy at the moment.
@theconstantgardener71Ай бұрын
Thanks for the nice comments buddy. I've always loved the idea of cuttings it's basically free plants. If you're prepared to make the small effort to take cuttings or sow a fivers worth of bedding plants in March, you can sell these direct to your customers. Glad you're keeping busy.

Great job. I’m no expert, but the video footage looks fine with the action camera. What microphone set up do you have ? The sound quality is excellent 👍🏻
@theconstantgardener71Ай бұрын
Thanks Matt. The microphone is a DJI Mic, i picked it up cheap from cash converters, so has a few bump, scratches and the internal battery doesn't hold a lot of charge, but it does ok for now. Thanks for the nice comments and I hope you continue watching. A new episode to be uploaded today/tomorrow, a little different from the norm. Hope you continue to enjoy.
@MattNorris-ez6xfАй бұрын
I don’t suppose you could provide a link for the DJI microphone please ? Excuse my ignorance, but do you “wear the mic” with a transmitter attached to the Action Camera ? Complete novice here…. Hoping to go from Banking to Gardening one day. Will be following you to see your progress. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
@theconstantgardener71Ай бұрын
Hi Matt, I would go for it my friend. I wish I had made the jump twenty years ago. The Dji Mic 1 or 2 can be used with any camera or smart phone that has a USB C port, the receiver just plugs in and connects to the mic. If you buy a Dji camera you don't need the receiver it has it built in.

Great video, nice clean up. Once you get fully ontop of it, hopefully not so long a day for you. Some decent bits of kit, and really handy it stored on the job. As only starting part time, well worth one of the days on this contract, looks decent commercial job on the books.
@theconstantgardener71Ай бұрын
Cheers for the comment. Yeah, the tools are great and really convenient to have them to hand on the job. I'm probably overthinking the fact I'm using one whole day a week on this job and possibly neglecting other business potential. If the money is coming in, I guess that's the name of the game.

Good video, nothing wrong with stihl equipment it's served us well for years, we use HLA 86 long reach hedge cutters.
@theconstantgardener712 ай бұрын
It's good gear my friend. Apart from the issues with the cheap second-hand trimmer I bought, it's been faultless so far. I have the added incentive of having a local Stihl dealership who's staff are unbelievably helpful, so that's another plus in my book. Thanks for commenting.
@owenparsons29722 ай бұрын
Good luck, I worry about the fact that you show the whole world you keep tools in your garage, I say this because I am very careful with my equipment but still the piky scum have just wiped me of about £6000 worth.
@theconstantgardener712 ай бұрын
I totally get where you're coming from Owen and also sympathise with you for having all your gear nicked. The garage is pretty secure and also alarmed. However, having stuff stolen over the years from vans, lockups and even high security retail premises. I am now very much of the opinion, if they want it, they'll get it. I just make it as awkward as possible and have good insurance. Sad state of affairs I'm afraid.

I recently purchased the long reach stihl battery trimmer, was a bit unsure as very expensive, and using other battery equipment, wasn't too impressed. Started out with a makita line strimmer, always needed loads of spare batteries to get through a whole days work. The stihl long reach was great investment, I still have regular stihl petrol hedge trimmer, more as a back up now.
@theconstantgardener712 ай бұрын
I know what you're saying. I loved the ease of the battery hedge trimmer but I do worry about having enough batteries and being able to afford them. I've just had a "heads up" today from another local gardener giving up and wanting to sell all his gear, it's all petrol but in good condition and practically giving it away. Still can't justify ot though.

Good info, ty. I started about 12 months ago, was in building /plastering since high school. I have been doing kind of part time while still skimming. I was going to concentrate more in the new year to fully swap to gardening, as thought doing it over winter the work load drops off. Your video has been really helpfull, and also encouraged the "why wait for next year" in my mind. Good luck and looking forward to more content on the progress.
@theconstantgardener712 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I guess you can plan as much as you want but the clock is always ticking in the background. Sometimes you just have to go for it. The benefit of having the plastering gig in your back pocket is always going to be a plus if times get a little tight. Good luck to you too,
