When I’ve raised any birds in captivity before they are set free they are always put in an aviary outside for weeks before release then after that the hatch on the aviary is left open. I would be surprised if he survives

I have a chick w/ what i thought was splay leg but nothing has helped her. I have to hand feed and water her 3 times a day and keep her separated. The others step on her head and stand on her. I don't know how to help her😢 it's been 2 wks of her wearing the splay leg splint thing

ok, i see the ones that sink or are mostly underwater are good, and the ones that are mostly exposed above water are bad. ty

I think you should have warned people that you were going to break open eggs that were partially dead or potentially viable. That's very disturbing. If I'm being honest. I know that you're not aborting the chick and I understand but that process was very disturbing. I understand you're doing it for demonstration, but what if it was alive, then what?

I'm from Florida and my grandfather had a huge, what we called simply "Plum Trees." The fruit is delicious! 🤤 As kids we pruned it every year for him and got stuffed eating along the way 😋. His tree was actually taller than his house and the branches were so huge you sit right on them with no fear of breakage 😊. Thanks for taking me back 🙂. It was a great time 😊

This is so informative and helpful. Mama hen was killed by a predator in the early morning a few days ago. We had to rush and set up the incubator in an attempt to rescue the remaining eggs but since they were due sometime this week before Easter, it's difficult to see if any are alive/viable at this point. This method will make it easier to tell which are rotten and which are potentially viable. Hopefully we were able to save some of them.

so irresponsible, its like throwing a kid out to the wild, where there are owls and hawks. it was grown indoor not strong enough to survive outside a single day.

Do not do this!!! One of my eggs sunk down. I checked it, and the baby chick was alive! I'm beating myself over this. I hope it makes it. *** note: I did candle my eggs but they are Easter Eggers and are very dark, couldn't see any movement. I was hoping this method would help me figure out viability. BIG FAIL!

Any update on this guy? Looks like he definitely imprinted and probably should not have been released. Would have been in good hands with a trained falconer.
