A most excellent video with most excellent music!!!! Thanks for posting!!!! Idle curiosity question: Assuming driving straight through from Dana Point to Leggatt nonstop, how long would it take? The trip is a technicolor dream of mine and hopefully, I'll be able to do it soon. My thoughts and Prayers are with the people of Greater Los Angeles and I hope they are able to rebuild soon! I just want to thank you for posting this series on rt. 50, I am 72 and have wanted to drive cross country my whole life. I am leaving Cape Cod mid Sept And Will take interstates to Virginia and pick up 50 from 81 and head west. Wife will fly out and meet me to tour Utah for a week then she goes home and I continue to San Diego. Return is seat of the pants

@@boblister665 thank you for the kind words and for watching. Since I made this video I have driven cross country multiple times. I’ve become addicted to it hehe. Just returned from another one actually. I think I’m up around 20 times crossing the country by car and still Rt 50 remains my favorite way to drive it. Btw drive home up to Vegas and into St George across to Page, AZ. Then east through monument valley to Cortez, CO and across the Rockies in southern CO. You’ll thank me later :)

I live in Glen Burnie, Maryland which is 3 hours from Ocean City, Maryland. When I go with family we take Route 50 east. So where is the mile sign in Sacramento, California??? Do you know??? It is so weird how California and Maryland share something in common. I watched the entire series and it was awesome.

Did you circumvent East St Louis? I've been loosely planning this trip by motorcycle when I retire and East St Louis is a concern. I'm okay in urban environments, but East St Louis is supposed to be a special kind of awful.
@baldrob3936

Route 50 actually joins I-255 in St Louis and swings south and then west over the Mississippi. Just after the river it breaks off in a commercial area. So we didn’t experience any urban travel there.

Great videos from what I've watched. I'll admit, I didn't watch the entire drive as I don't want to ruin the surprise of what I'll see. I'm riding my motorcycle down to OCMD from Jersey in May. I'm going to ride 50 west to the other end like you did, but with NO itinerary or stays scheduled, just in case of unforeseen circumstances such as bad weather etc. I'll be sure to watch your entire series again after my trip. I loved 50 from Ely to Carson City when I explored The Loneliest Road a few years ago. Isn't it awesome how you can just stop in tbe middle of the road to take pics? 👍👍

I made reservations on this one because I wanted to keep myself on schedule lol. After this drive we picked up my wife and daughter at LAX and we drove the coast up to Seattle. @@baldrob3936 Thank you, I enjoyed the video. Our Daughter lives in Boise (we live on the Ky side of the Ohio River opposite Cincinnati) and have flown out to visit her many times and because of that, we have driven from Seattle all the way down to the California line. Have visited all the states and have driven US 50 from Ocean City to Cincinnati and this May we plan on driving all the way to Sacramento then visit Napa then head up to Boise to visit her. Funny, we drove this spring up to the Canadian Rockies from and to Boise on Route 2 to Calgary, and did the Icefield PKY and such. We also drove Route 2 when visiting East Glacier when the Road to the Sun was closed due to snow. Saw my 1st Grizzly Bear when we got off Route 2 and took Route 89 to St. Mary's. If you haven't been to Glacier NP and driven the Road to the Sun you missed a beautiful drive and if you haven't done the Beartooth out of Red Lodge that is another great drive through the mountains. Thanks for the Route 2 idea for the drive back to Northern Ky. We are both retired so time isn't a problem.

@@davewear1361 great drives all of those! I have done the road to the sun and Beartooth and both were stunning as well! I’ll be doing Icefields this summer when my son and I drive from PA to Anchorage 😳 Definitely take Rt 2 home sometime it is a great drive. I especially enjoyed it across of the plain in MT and No Dakota. But take it all the way to Sault St Marie and then dip south through MI and back home. It’s beautiful driving through the upper peninsula. While add it stop by and see the beginning of the Mississippi River. Pretty neat as it’s a trickle where it starts. We drove over the first bridge over the Mississippi which is a far cry from the last bridge in New Orleans hehe. Enjoy your travels!!

I cannot thank you enough for posting this. My son is getting married in Santa Barbara at the end of this March, 2023, and I will pedal the bicycle there from Sacramento via Bakersfield. This section you filmed with be my route over the mountains to the coast, so it was extremely useful to see the terrain, and thankfully, the lack of traffic. I'm 65 years old so this will be the challenging section. I'll just go slow and steady, like the turtle, not the rabbit. Thanks again.
