@MissMaryEmbroideryАй бұрын
So....If you damage the ES mat on a Curio 2, I am not sure you can buy a replaced. I am not seeing one at the time of writing this comment....so it's not a bad idea to have a debris tray which won't be damage if something goes wrong.

Is the clear vinyl you got to draw the grid lines on is it from silhouette or from a different option? So appreciate your detailed tutorials on actually achieving fab results using the silhouette curio 2. Do you have a calibration tutorial for the curio 2? Mine has set from day 2 because I couldn’t really find detailed tutorials for the curio2. Many thanks !!!

I am so glad you have found the tutorials helpful! I keep meaning to make tutorial on the cover sheet, it's just vinyl I got from Hobby Lobby & drew the grid on it. It's been so helpful! I have never Calibrated any of my cutting machines, so I can't offer up much help there!

@@MissMaryEmbroidery what is the thickness of the clear vinyl you picked up at hobby lobby? Hopefully calibrating the curio 2 won’t be that difficult. Maybe silhouette website won’t cause any problems trying to calibrate. Maybe I’ll wait until they get their new website problems resolved. Don’t want added issues with our machines

I used a power strip on my desk for the foil quill. According to the makers of the foil quill, you are not supposed to use a USB from a computer or the machines. You can also buy a USB battery bank if you don't have a USB port near by. Hope that helps!

How long does it take for the glue to dry and did you just place the rhinestones where ever they fit or was there a pattern you followed?
@MissMaryEmbroideryАй бұрын
This is a scatter method of rhinestone placements. so wherever they fit is where they go. There are more fill pattern types for a more uniform look. Honestly not sure how long it takes the glue to dry, not that long. It varies based on how much you apply.

I have not -- not sure it's safe to heat up modpodge or if modpodge would shrink when heated. I do know that on printable shrink plastic you can skip it because the UV resin will stick to the shrink plastic.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYmQdql4fLqfgpI -- there's the link to the video on how I did this, step by step. Yes, the powder needs to go on while it's still wet. First, love seeing a Curio 2 demonstrated. There are so few! I purchased the Silhouette pen holder for my machine, but even the largest adapter included is too small for my Sharpie gel pens - they have a grip that makes them a bit chunky. Will the Chomas pen holder work for these? One of the biggest reasons that I chose the Curio 2 was to sketch on the thin canvas boards - 4x4 or 5x7. I have done a few, but with fine tip markers that don't stay in position. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
@MissMaryEmbroidery4 ай бұрын
The chomas Marker holder (not pen holder) will hold a normal Sharpie marker. I am not sure if it'll work with the grips, they get hard for the screw to hold steady. You can see if the grip will come off & make it easier to hold on to. I hope that helps!

How do you deal with the curio cutting crooked? Everything is taped down and something happens and the blade starts to move wrong or it cuts over the previous area but just off.
@MissMaryEmbroidery5 ай бұрын
I haven’t really had that problem - I would suggest trying to reduce the force used. Or the automatic depth detection can get off if the object is shiny, you try using white paper when it reads the depth. (I did that in my foil quill video). Or add more tape! Hope some of that helps!

I see that this video is old but I'm hoping that you're still active and maybe could help me out. I copied and pasted a clipart on the disk and then added a name. Now the Curio is cutting the actual frame around the clipart. How do I get rid of the line/box but still tell the machine to cut/deboss the picture but not the frame? Thanks so much!
@MissMaryEmbroidery6 ай бұрын
Sounds like you are using a PNG or Jpeg file for your etching. If it is a picture file, you can trace it using the butterfly on the toolbar. Or you can try bringing in a SVG file. Once you either trace or bring in an SVG file, you would use the Emboss/Deboss panel to put the lines in needed for etching. Hope that helps!

Is it possible to cut 2 mm Craft Foam?

In theory but I would be very careful doing so -- the Cameo 4 only has a 3 mm clearance, so between the 2mm foam & the mat there isn't a lot of room.

Great video. Very succinct. I would like to give you a bit of advice that might help you going forward with your burns on different species of wood. I am a woodworker and have done many wood projects such as cutting boards, charcuterie boards and the like. At any rate, before I apply a finish to any of my works, I wet the wood several times prior which helps raise the grain of the wood, then I follow that up with sanding. I do this a number of times until the grain no longer swells, at which point I sand at a high grit which helps tighten up those porous areas, which I believe will prevent your wood from bleeding as you burn the chemical. Every species of wood has a different grain structure make up. Some are large (oak, ash) while others are smaller (walnut, maple), especially in hardwoods. I can't guarantee that this will be 100% foolproof, but I really believe that it will reduce significantly any kind of burn bleed. I would try a scrap piece of wood first to see the result. I hope that that helps you in some way. Cheers!!
