The caveat with equal pay isn't even something that should be unequivocal. If a potential employee negotiates a contract, I feel the employer should be able to provide different salaries to different people whether they be men or women. Now, should all salaries be made visible to other employee's? No, I don't think that should be mandatory either. What I DO feel should be a protected right is sharing that information with colleagues if they wish. Nobody should be threatened or fired if a colleague asks them what they are paid and if they share that information willingly. I think that is a good kind of empowerment.
