Hi you are one of the few that reviewed these headphones with a punk rock track. Do the Hadenys also sound as engaging with that track?
@BobbyBass-x6i18 күн бұрын
I tried both and chose the Bathys. They sounded better IMO. The DAC connection to my iPhone is definitely a difference maker beyond Bluetooth. In addition the personalized hearing testing and setting is cool. The build quality is great for both but more consumers complain about long term wear issues with the B&W. The Bathys were about $100 more but worth it for me. Thanks for the review.

I'm a bit confused. You said Focal's open-backs are better, but you also seemed to like the Radiance more than both the Azurys and the Hadenys. Did I misinterpret? Do I have this right?: Radiance > Hadenys > Azurys > Bathys

Excellent review!! Bought my pair last Friday and looking forward to hearing them. Previously owned the PX7. Also tried the Apple Max but they lacked a lot to me, felt cheap soundwize. There is only one thing that I am still struggling with upon this day. The PX8 internal DAC is capped at 24 bit/48 kHz. Would it really have mattered if the internal DAC would for example supported 96 kHz or higher? Or does this not have been that impactful. I understand from a Bluetooth perspective that it is 48 kHz but from a wired perspective, would it have mattered? Or is that more of a selling thingy?

Im looking for some to watch movies, not streaming high quality from Bluray, most DTS/Atmos sound. Could it be in this case the Bathys are more suitable, because of "bigger stage" you get with this ones? Does anyone has experiences with this?

Azurys vs Thieaudio Monarch Mk3 or other $1000 IEMs? Which one is better for sound quality, excluding the soundstage which is obvious.
@Icecold_Art4 ай бұрын
The Monarch should beat it easily, afterall its a kilobuck iem, and iem's in general present better value for the money spent. On top of that Monarch has EST drivers which can pick up even the tiny details like breathing texture etc. Both these Focals are just one dynamic driver, not even beryllium coated. Heck I recntly got a beryllium coated iem Sivga Que all metal/wood build for 69$....

Can you use balanced cable on this? Is it a 4 pole cable that goes inside the 1 sided cable input? If yes do you get one in the box?

Great video. I liked that you mentioned HD 650. I have the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro like most beginners start with. I then bought the HD 650 but I was never wowed by them so I haven’t yet discovered something enjoyable. I am thinking to try the Azurys because they are more affordable.

I have both the Elegias and the Radiance, and yes the Radiance is a lot more engaging and well tuned that the elegias, but what I have done to make the elegias a little bit more engaging is that I changed the pads to Dekoni elite sheepskins and I also use the earmen colibri and it has a base boost option and that seems to alleviate some if not most of the issues in the sound department with the elegias, specially regarding the base, it hits hard and it's well extended and brings it a little closer to the radiance, while still maintaining an airy and spacious presentation. I never had the issue of metalic timber that people complain a lot about focal headphones and I also have the clears, so that hasn't been much of an issue for me and tho I appreciate a huge sound stage in headphones, it's not a big priority for me or is not going to detract from the experience that much, I'm more interesting in separation, imaging and holography than sound stage size when it comes to technicalities, so focal headphones fit the bill perfectly for me and the punch and raw visceral experience that they bring to the table is still something that I only get with them.
@7quidstudio5 ай бұрын
So you'd recommend the dekoni sheepskin for the Elegias then? Do they really make that much difference? Very tempted to get some for mine
@sleepingatsea34205 ай бұрын
@7quidstudio you should definitely get them. I've had the Elegja and the Dekoni pads for a few years and it's a great combo. Not quite as comfortable as the stock pads but the EQ shift they add is worth it.
@mauriciolacruz4 ай бұрын
What version (reference no.) of *Dekoni Elite Sheepskin* pads are you referring to?
@geofflangdon44677 ай бұрын
I have Elegias and was looking at these two new headphones so this comparison was really helpful. Doesn’t sound like they are different/better enough to spend the money, but kudos to Focal for yet another fantastic headphone. BTW, have you tried leather pads on your Elegia? I found that filled out the bass for me.
@engineeringart63457 ай бұрын
I did yes, it definitely helps. If you have Elegia then you're set at the desk, I'd say these are more if you want to take focal closed back sound on the go and still have a superb experience that trades blows with Elegia.

I bought the Celestee and they hurt my ears, Just to bright to me so sent them back, Took a chance on the Bathys and loved them, I see the Azurys and took a punt on them with my bad experience of the Celestee in mind and i was totally surprised at how amazing they are and with a Quidelix 5K even more so, I now have the Hadenys coming as my first ever open backs and the Bathys are on ebay, I hate Focal because they more often than not knock it out of the park which then hurts my bank account 😂

I like to EQ my headphones to pull the best out of them. So for me, between the Azurys and the Elegia, I'd go for the Elegia since I can get the bigger stage and fix the timbre with some EQing.

@@Icecold_Art I have to say I think your B&Os have the Focals beat in the looks department. The newer Focals are quite a bit over designed in my book, but it's not at all to point that it bothers me. They look fine, I think, and they are really small and won't look weird on your head when outside.
