My arborists used the winch used to pull logs into the chipper to pull against a slight lean. Seemed to work fine. With all the pickup trucks with winches on them, I'm surprised you don't see this more often. Any off-roaders have any experience with this? I have none.

I was trying to figure out what tool was used to unscrew pad, you might want to mention that. Don't have one at home so trying to find out the correct bit.

Your video was spot on. Its a method I am now familiar with. I was changing batteries every three or four weeks until I finally checked the output voltage of the battery holder. Rather than the 6 Volts (4x1.5V) I expected with new batteries, it was only 4.9V. Checking further, I measured the proper 1.5V at each battery junction. But the total at the pads was less than 5V. It seems the two large pads that contact the lock to supply power were dropping 1.1V. I cleaned the pads and the other battery contacts thoroughly which raised the voltage up to 5.2V, but that only made the batteries last a few days more. I could find no replacement for the b489-01 battery holder on the Schlage site nor anywhere else. Calling Schlage they informed me the battery holder was not a replacement part, but the warranty status allowed them to replace the entire lock. That seems a little like overkill since the lock was less than a year old, but I agreed. They sent the new one and since the old lock was working flawlessly and programmed with my choice of codes, I simply removed the battery holder and used it in the old lock. With the new holder in the old lock, the batteries lasted almost a full year. So the battery holder was definitely the issue. Now I find I could use the new lock at my daughters home but there still seems to be no battery holder replacement. Has anyone found a replacement b489-01 battery holder?

The washers are 1”. Use a 1” or adjustable wrench to hold the spindle.

Just watching this now. What is the fuzzy little washer thing below the metal nut? I am ready to put my new blade on but came across what looks like a fabric/foam washer under the metal but (against the machine). Should I replace that?

I bought my edger used from Goodwill and the new blade doesn't have one included in the pack.. Sorry I cant help with that.
