Make sure you prime and base your models before painting which will help a ton. Also water down the paint a little bit before painting. Maybe look into a wet palette for help with that. There is a fantastic miniature painter whose channel is named Goobertown Hobbies. Check some of his stuff out for guides. And just a fyi for your parents, he's very G rated :). Practice will always make you better and being great takes time! All in all keep it up man!
