Mysterious Eyes remix of the original by Tina Cousins

A fantastic rail trail that ticks so many boxes. The detour through the wetlands, the peace and solitude of riding, away from the busy highway. The joy of experiencing Port Fairy and of course, travelling to Warrnambool by train and the really, really cheap fares to get there. Scant signage at the Warrnambool end though as we got lost and had to reconnect through Google maps.

How do the two steam engines both start and stop at exactly the same time?
@brenm4123 жыл бұрын
Lead loco slowly starts steaming to collect any slack in the couplings and then second loco starts gentle steaming. During the trip there are also whistle signals to direct the second driver to stop or resume steaming if necessary. When stopping at stations the second loco shuts off steam earlier and effectively acts just as a carriage. Only the driver on the lead loco controls the braking system.

Hey do you still volunteer At the Puffing Billy Railway? If so I would love to see more videos about it! Cheers

Yes - still an active volunteer although Covid put paid to 2020. My last rostered run was December 2020 but hopefully try and get back on the roster soon.

Which loco do you think is a better steamer.
@brenm4126 жыл бұрын
In all honesty, all running NA locomotives have their good and bad times. Lately 6A has been behaving really well for everyone though.
@comengsh6 жыл бұрын
@@brenm412 honestly i thought all you firemen and drivers loved 8A the most because of his (or hers?) modified front end which improved performance.
@brenm4126 жыл бұрын
There are many factors affecting engine performance and these constantly change over time. All locos seem to have periods when they run better than other locos but then a few months later it all changes again.

Hey mate nice video 👍Just one question How come the crew don’t use the turbogenerators on the railway
@brenm4126 жыл бұрын
The turbo is used but only at night to power the loco lighting.
@kylegleeson86386 жыл бұрын
Cheers for that mate I thought they might use it in the day as a safety feature like mainline locomotives. I suppose it would use up more fuel on an already limited capacity. It was great to see your role on the railway and the enginuity of the VR of the 20th century
@Serotonia237 жыл бұрын
Where do you apply for it and how old do ya have to be mate?
@james_treins46306 жыл бұрын
Pace Leavey Vlogs I believe you apply online and then have an interview conducted over the phone, you have to be 18
@comengsh6 жыл бұрын
you have to be 7+ to apply
@comengsh6 жыл бұрын
@@james_treins4630 no you don't, you're allowed to apply at the age of 7 or older, but those age group jobs include painting the white line on platforms, cleaning the locos etc.

Applications for fireman are taken from existing volunteers who have already accumulated hours of experience as a rostered engine cleaner. You also need your Safeworking qualification and a Worksafe boiler attendant ticket.
