I also want to add something 😁; The only good things about Earthspark are Elita-1 in general (even if they didn't do so much with her and didn't detailly developed her character/give her character a depth) Bumblebee and Prowl (be it with their voice and design), show's Japanese dub (the Japanese cast have the seiyuus i love) and Megatron and Optimus reconciling and being friends again (even if i think Earthspark Megatron's redemption doesn't make any rational sense and i think a bigger reason should be motivation for Megatron to seek redemption).

Your last argument can also be reversed. A child could be confused if a show talks about homophobia. Now that child now has a seed to hate a want to hurt others. Now that is also a political views for the other side. That is also being forced. How is that any different. Also a seed doesn’t need to be planted. For example. Fredrick the great of Prussia was attracted to men despite being a man. He was told his whole life that he can’t like the same gender but he did. A seed is not needed.

I have to say that Earthspark writers hates Optimus. Nothing against Optimus being goofy, but Earthspark done Optimus an idiot, he was done dirty and give him a severe disservice for the sake of Megatron apologism (sorry but i love and enjoy Megatron as a villain) And also have huge gripes with Dot. Like she acted like as if Optimus done something unforgiveable to her and sorry but i feel like Dot's problem with Op %100 written as to shit on Optimus and this causes Dot to coming off as asshole without a goddamn good reason.

Funnily enough, Snow White's hair isn't even pink in the original novel, lol; She was platinum-blonde. So the dark tone and some of the magical girls dying really are the only significant similarities to Madoka Magica, IMO. I binged this anime about a year ago, and I wanted more! It was the first anime I'd watched since Death Note (which I watched in 2021) that I considered to be worthy of a 9/10 rating. So, naturally, I ended-up reading all 18 volumes of the original novel series over the last few months of the year, and I absolutely loved every page of them! (Mild spoilers incoming. I won't be discussing any plot-twists or character deaths [or indeed any characters who survive their arcs] or other such developments, but if you wanna go into the series entirely blind, I recommend not reading any further.) I guess, feel free to take this as some sorta sales-pitch on why you should read the novels, after watching the anime that this video is itself an amazing sales pitch for! Like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, each arc follows a mostly-new cast of characters, each covers different genres (for example, the first arc/season is a battle-royale, Restart is a whodunnit and Limited is a crime-thriller) and the first arc is usually considered to be the weakest by fans. (Although, personally, Raising Project's first arc is one of my favorites, and I don't think JoJo's first arc is bad by any means, either.) The series overall has very interesting things to say about the concept of magical girls, and plenty of metanarrative about why it is people enjoy them in the first place. Like, there are characters beyond just Snow White, La Pucelle and Calamity Mary who are bona fide mahou shoujo otaku, and honestly, as someone who isn't particularly interested in mahou shoujo as a genre, I found myself sorta getting the hype when characters like Magical Daisy, Weddin or Dreamy⭐Chelsea monologued about what magical girls mean to them! Aside from that, the way the series never forgets its roots is admirable! Like, there are events from the first arc that are still SUPER relevant going forward, even in cases where the characters involved are long-dead. And the way Fav and Cranberry's actions in particular have lasting consequences on this world and its characters is truly something to behold! Also, even after reading the rest of the novels, Tama is still best-girl! (...Although Pfle is a very close second.)

@WolfOfWalfas thank you for your sales pitch of sorts haha. I never realized the hair was different so that's pretty cool to know. I'm glad you enjoy it and hopefully you convinced someone else to feel the same. I appreciate your comment 🫡

I remember reading the manga years ago. I remember that I really liked the concept and plot, but the characters and terrible writing made me drop it halfway through. That and the main selling point of the MC is that he doesn't rape a 15 year old girl when he has the chance. Honestly, I'd say the fact that that's even a bar he has to clear, is enough reason to avoid this series.

I don't really believe that Nightshade is an issue. Of course that's coming from a fellow trans person 🤷 but I'll do my best to give an objective explanation of how harmless I find the topic. To a child, saying; "I am American " would be the same as "I am non-binary". *Kid standers* anyway, that doesn't apply to adult thinking. Anyhow, there isn't anything manipulating about informing a child about trans people, they will probably meet them one day and this is a show that provided them the knowledge of how to address those people. If you don't agree that's fine but kids will be confused about whatever-that's how they learn. Plus seven year olds most likely don't get the concept of pronouns so the scene was just not meant for them and instead for the older kids watching-like a casual adult joke in a Pixar film, no harm if done properly 👍 Sorry this was so long :P
@Nerdsfeed
@Nerdsfeed 7 күн бұрын
I appreciate it being long. It was how it was handled that was an issue, honestly. If they just used They/them pronouns, I wouldn't have had much of a complaint, honestly. How they said it, though, was not optimal for children in the development stage for they are in at that age. There are certain stages where they brain development is more equipped for things such as gender identity... this wasn't it, yah know?
@Oatmealartz
@Oatmealartz 7 күн бұрын
@Nerdsfeed Yeah that's pretty fair 👌 I remember being extremely thrown off when my young self first encountered non cis pronouns. I didn't understand them so I got bamboozled and disrespectful towards those who identified that way. I'm older and trans so...🤨, that didn't stick for too long. Basically I'm trying to explain that I feel like I could've handled meeting people who identified differently than what they were born with, better if I had only been taught that earlier in life. I feel bad I criticized those who I am now in the shoes in when all I needed was confirmation that these people are normal people and should be treated as such. I get your point though. (You're very respectful btw and I appreciate that :3) Although I personally don't mind kids watching this show, that doesn't mean I'm gonna get insulted by you having worries for the new and young generation. My goal is only really to share and inform you of my opinion, not change yours 👍.

To be honest I also kinda enjoyed the show , until I saw that part or heard what nightshade said. Even my daughter who is now 22 was just sitting there on her phone while I was watching it and she heard it and said OMG, this is a show for kids and did they just have a transformer say that ? Wow so much for the parents to have this conversation with their kids about this at right time, now the kid is going to start questioning himself or herself about what this means, these writers had no right to use this show as the platform for kids to start asking what are them or they mom? The fact that this gets shoved down our throats from rated teen shows all the time , a kids show is absolutely not the way or show to use pronouns , and yes they have just destroyed all legacy characters in this show as well ,safe to say my daughter is all grown up , cause I'd flipped my lid if this was on when she watched Nick at that age .

@Unenergeticxxx
@Unenergeticxxx 15 күн бұрын
Before I begin my comment, I would like to state that I have a low amount of empathy because of special conditions . I may not understand some concerns and may need some explanations on some matters (such as why parents are so concerned) from you, mister. Thank you. Firstly, I'd argue that a three line dialogue that has been repeated for perhaps, twice in the show, will have no permanent effects on children. As an example, I'm willing to share my experience. When I was 7 (what a coincidence!), I stumbled upon a video that tackles a transgender person's childhood. I watched it, thought being transgender was cool and went with it. It lasted no more than a day, I grew out of it because it just didn't fit me. Now that I have grown up, I am confident to say that the video didn't ruin my innocence (I have zero memories on this before I stumbled on this video). Personal experiences do not include all experiences and I understand that, I just want to point out that not all children are as innocent or naive as people perceive them to be. There are children that understand these differences and children that get confused for a while. However, most will understand that this 'label' isn't for them and will ultimately choose to abandon that. Secondly, gender dysphoria is a mental illness (transgender isn't!), it may confuse your kids because it's something so complicated that scientists aren't sure what causes it in the first place (1) . But ultimately, gender dysphoria is defined as a 'different experience in gender in comparison to the gender norms'. It's not something that can be 'easily enforced' or 'implanted easily'. As an example, depression is a mental illness. Some kids may find it cool to 'imitate' depression, or some are taught about depression and thought it is again, 'cool' to 'imitate' it. It is only a phase in the end. As they do not feel what a depressed patient feels. They are not truly depressed no matter how much they imitate it. Same thing with gender dysphoria, one cannot 'feel dysphoria' no matter how much they imitate it. They just don't have it. As scientists say, "We found that societal expectations and gender norms caused participants to experience gender dysphoria when comparing their own gender experiences to those of others, or when sensing that their body and gender expression were being judged by others. On top of these factors, experience of actual rejection and social isolation due to gender caused significant distress." (2) Shows don't increase the chance of a child feeling 'dysphoria', children find it cool to be different, most do not experience what a dysphoric patient feels on a daily basis. I fail to understand why children would be 'prone to' a mental disorder because shows have shown gender identities. In the end, They are children who imitate for the sake of 'coolness'. I will not support the fact that they made it Y-7 or whatever, but I strongly argue against the concept that seeds of 'gender dysphoria' is implanted simply because of a show. It is a much more serious issue than just that. If you are willing to learn more about gender dysphoria and how it actually feels like, there will be a video at the bottom. Lastly, I would like to reinforce my stance. Do I think it's appropriate for 7 year olds to see this? No, I suppose. All I've said was things that I disagree on in your video, and not the fact that this show should NOT be rated Y7 or whatever. It tackles topics such as PTSD, aka starscream having traumatic responses towards Megatron, and that disgusting mandroid thing. I'd say, raise the age of viewing mainly because PTSD starscream is too much for children to understand, gender identity comes second (some children don't understand, I'm going to think of those children first). Also I have no idea on what I just typed it's 1 am and I'm dying halfway because I am having a cold. One part of me doesn't want to give a shit while the other is itching for a discussion. I would like to hear something on your side though, if you want. I'm still crying because of the way they butchered Megatron's looks. Oh my fucking God that creature is NOT the tfp Megatron I like... So many of my favorite things, both old and new have been infected by the woke mind virus. We have Star Wars getting infected because of Kathleen Kennedy, Masters of the Universe getting infected due to Kevin Smith, and Transformers getting infected due to Earthspark. Even more new stuff like Amphibia were once apolitical (at least) and got infected by the woke mind virus, which in the case of Amphibia, it was a largely apolitical show UNTIL you reach many of the Earth-based episodes of Season 3 (and when we got back to Amphibia proper in the same season, things became apolitical again). Definitely made the liberal fans happy, but as someone who is a more conservative fan of the show, I was disappointed, and I would skip many of the Earth-based episodes if I were to watch it again. However, Transformers has to be the most heartbreaking victim to me, as I am a lifelong fan of Transformers. They are called such because they can transform into a vehicle or animal. I swear, someone went literal with the “trans” part in Transformers even though it just simply meant transforming into a vehicle or animal, NOT “transitioning” into something you are not. I swear, I think I owe Energon, the entire Michael Bay Pentalogy, and Adventure an apology. Sure, Earthspark may have designs heavily based on G1, but that doesn’t save it from being woke. I also remember Optimus Prime being like, this heroic, conservative (or libertarian) icon, not an SJW. It makes sense for Prime to be conservative, libertarian, or EVEN apolitical, but not a full-fledged progressive. Of course, Transformers Earthspark, for whatever reason, aired on Nickelodeon. You know? That network that has a long history of having predators working on its shows such as Chris Savino (The Loud House), Dan Schneider (iCarly), John Kricfalusi (Ren and Stimpy), and Bill Cosby (Little Bill)(No, NOT a “Bill Cosby”, THE Bill Cosby).

It's sad that kids shows are primarily being targeted for content that could be potentially harmful for them. Nick has thrown a lot of eggs into that basket, same with Disney, who have wisely started taking steps back. It's mentally and emotionally draining to see the little regard people have for the wellbeing of kids. If I wasn't sure that an action I make would be a positive one in some regard, then I wouldn't risk it, especially when put against the lives of children.
@SirMillennium1000
@SirMillennium1000 15 күн бұрын
@@Nerdsfeed Yeah, as someone who's a fan of the Transformers franchise, as well as Amphibia, it is absolutely sad. When I watched Season 3 of the latter, I overall had mixed feeling about that season because there were good episodes (many of which took place on Amphibia proper), but the many Earth-based episodes were just not good (and I would just skip those many Earth-based episodes if I watch Amphibia again). Amphibia is rated TV-Y7, not what? TV-MA? Very clearly, they had only their own interests in mind for that season, not the audience (including kids). Same applies to Transformers: Earthspark, which of course, gave a worse name to the Transformers franchise than even Energon, the Michael Bay Pentalogy, or even Adventure (AKA RiD '15 in the US) ever could have. They made Optimus Prime into a wuss and a liberal. Meanwhile, there are shows that are dangerous/woke to begin with, such as The Owl House, which is also supposedly rated TV-Y7, but how can it be with all these themes that are UNSUITABLE for children? I swear, there's a lot of manipulators in the entertainment industry.
@Nerdsfeed

I have heard a LOT about the Owl House not being child friendly and should be rated more for late teens
@SirMillennium1000
@SirMillennium1000 12 күн бұрын
@@Nerdsfeed Yeah, and there are things that are dangerous for teenagers as well, and even for young adults. The anime Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid (sadly, not all anime are good, as an anime fan speaking), unfortunately, has a lot of gross themes; the "relationships" that Kobayashi and Lucoa have with their respective victims is depicted as "funny", when in reality, is actually abuse (hence why I used the term "victims"). That anime is supposedly rated TV-14, but I can't really say it is TV-MA either (as it is harmful to both teens and even adults); it's more of a nobody's show. I used to consider Disney the worst, but I am starting to think that Nickelodeon is actually worse than even them given what went on in Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon has a long history of having sickos in there, such as having Chris Savino for The Loud House, Dan Schneider for iCarly, John Kricfalusi for Ren and Stimpy, and Bill Cosby for Little Bill (no, NOT a "Bill Cosby", THE Bill Cosby). Disney's been taking steps back eh? I mean, if I am correct, they made Inside Out 2 wholesome, whereas say, Turning Red, was very woke (and Turning Red was extremely anti-family and degenerate). However, I sadly don't think I'll see that happening anytime with Nickelodeon. They still have what? Nightshade? The woke Blue's Clues? (How could they twist what was an innocent little kid's show into something evil?) The Loud House and its spin-off? With The Owl House, while I may be old enough (I'm a young adult), I refuse to watch it, as it has a lot of liberal themes such as socialism (free market is demonized), anarchy (Eda is an anarchist), and especially gender confusion (Raine Whispers), and not to mention that the show is anti-Christian, and I am absolutely offended as a Christian.

Spot on, man! It's just too young to be pushing that stuff! Later in the season and seasons 2 and 3, they do improve some of the characters a bit, mainly the human kids at times. They're able to fight for themselves, sometimes to an absurd degree. There's another episode with a she/they girl too that Nightshade rescues. 😐 (Spoiler for season 3) Prowl makes an appearance and it's stated that he is Prime's best friend. That doesn't make sense. Wouldn't it be Bee or Jazz, the second in command? A lot of this is confusing and makes me question why it's a continuation of g1. Grimlock was never on Cybertron in the old show, and Prowl along with others were brutally and fatally shot up on that ship! Crazy stuff, man. Also, i guess skywarp just swap genders? Things don't fit or line up. Megatron also makes better points like old optimus more than actual optimus at times. I wish the dichotomy of the Decepticons having to fight their former leader was explored a bit more. Also the old war and things that happened in the past that took the mom's leg, sound more interesting than the initial story. Not a terrible show, but not the best. Some of the designs are cool. And characters are interesting sometimes. Like weird Al voices cosmos and flea voices aftermath! 😅😆👍🏻 If not for the doo doo surrounding nightshade, I quite like the character and the owl mode. Arcee's car mode is sick! Its like a retro futuristic 50s looking car! Great video covering this, man! 👍🏻

I decided to push through the intro to see what real complaints you had about the show. The rest of the review itself was really good and fair! I agree with a lot of your points on the structuring of the show, and I can tell you it doesn't get better after the first season. But honestly? The complaints about nightshade are just. so dumb 😭. It's been a year so i don't know if your opinion has changed but the rest of the review that has VALID criticisms just feels overshadowed by the transphobic rant afterwards and it's so sad. You put a lot of effort into an overall decent video just to cry wolf at the end. The reality is that kids have an online presence now, kids younger than 7 probably already know what queer terms are given they occupy a lot of space now as internet users. You are treating them the same way that earthspark treats them. Like they're stupid. Truly it is NOT that deep, and not worth ruining a good video for.
@Nerdsfeed
@Nerdsfeed 22 күн бұрын
I never had a transphobic rant, I didn't treat anyone like they were dumb, and having the possibility of seeing something doesn't mean that it should be expedited. They could see literally anything online, yah know? Arguing that since they could see it that they should see it sets a really bad precedent. I stated that a higher age range for how they handled Nightshade would be better. I never made a video about Knockout because I believe he was handled appropriately. If they actively normalized it, instead of handling it how they did, it wouldn't have been as much of an issue. Using they/them from inception without the explanation would have been far better. My issue is based on children's average levels of understanding at that age, given their brain development biologically, their development psychologically, and how they could be affected. I didn't handle my rant well, that's a fact, but I still believe in nightshade scene being... not for the best. I appreciate the kind things you had to say besides that though, and understand you not agreeing with me lol, but throwing around the term "transphobic" is silly. I wouldn't want kids that age watching the SAW films either... am I SAWphobic? Haha I'm just kidding, Merry Christmas eve
