L hôpital rule isnt used here as it is used when the function is maximum simplified and is 0/0 or inf/inf
@gaurishsridhar-eb7lp22 күн бұрын
The original function had an indeterminate form of 0/0, so it is theoretically possible
@xTRTSCx22 күн бұрын
It is theoretically possible and practically it works too, after using L hôpital rule you get 2√(x+16) if you plug in 0 you get 8

Just use l'hospital rule?
@GrantMitchell-rb7gx23 күн бұрын
Yes, L’Hopitals works here by taking the derivatives of the top and the bottom, and you would arrive at the solution faster and more simply than the 1-equivalent multiplication. However, for people that haven’t learned L’Hopitals, this video is a good demonstration of how to find the limit.
@butterflytr307723 күн бұрын
@@GrantMitchell-rb7gxtheres also a dumb thing in my country where the government removed lhospitals rule from the curriculum and are actively trying to discourage the students from using it, so they literally make questions that cannot be solved with the lhospitals rule for the university exam

That's the whole point of finding this undefined limit..
@varunnadgir451323 күн бұрын
A limit is what the function approaches, so for the point x=0 of this function, it is not defined, but the function approaches the point 8.

Thank you, that was exactly what I was searching for. One question, if instead we had the limit of (x e^(sin(x))) as x approaches infinity, would that limit exist?

I should mention situations like 372*99 (number has more digits than the number of nines in the multiplier) You see the number 372 is 3 digits and 99 is 2 digits. In this situation the method in the video still works. But it would look something like: 371(100-372) 371(-272)…. So 37100 - 272 = 36,828. Or you could instead do: 372*(100-1) 37200 - 372 = 36,828 This might provide a hint for the challenge question at the end

3:23 But it is allowed only if "2x+2y" is not zero. Whereas our implicit function is y=-x, so 2x+2y is always zero ?

tan[f(x)]/f(x) when f(x) tends to zero is always 1… it’s a standard limit.. a faster way of solving would be to multiply and divide the original question by 2/x… hence your answer would be 2

Is there a way to write common logs without writing the base? For example, when you wrote log x, could you do log x as you could in TI-84 or do you have to have the base 10? It's a little inconvenience even though you stated and we know the base is 10 lol. In TI-84 or other TI's, common logs are accounted for. Thanks for the video.
