Is the tool length offset page referenced when using NC Merge? Using a conversational probe for zero then running NC program what offset will the probe use? Guess I'll find out in an hour at work, lol. Like Hurco machines, don't like tools being saved per program. Should always be what's actually in the machine.
@hurcousa Жыл бұрын
Whether the tool offset page is used, or not, will be determined by the code in the NC/G-Code program. Once the control jumps to the NC side, it will follow the NC program the same as if it was being run without the merge. If the NC program doesn’t call a G43H? then the control will use the tool length on the tool setup page; however, if a G43H? is called, then it will use the values in the TLO page. Also, if a G54 or other work offset is called the control will use the one called in the program, but it will default to the conversational part setup if no other work offset is called inside the NC code.

im running into the same problem (and have in the past) and am seeing that he drew the C in a conventional milling direction but still got climb milling toolpaths... others are saying to check the plunge options in Milling 2 parameters but im still getting errors for what im doing.
@hurcousa Жыл бұрын
Whenever we call something a “pocket boundary” the boundary must be closed (also called water-tight). That means the starting point, and ending point of the contour must be exactly the same XY location. That would be the first place to look. You can email the program to [email protected] and I will take a look if that doesn’t help.

nice demo... of course, toolpath could be better for displaying capabilities... i doubt it reaches 1,200ipm for more than a half second... optimization issue? was this programmed using the Hurco control, or an external software solution? on finish cuts, the tool seems to stop at each depth... is there no function for helical milling (ramping)? there must be.... i'll have to look into this a bit more as i'm sure comments won't be looked at for a 3yr old video. all things considered, it looks pretty good.
@hurcousa Жыл бұрын
This demo was created by one of our distributors, so we don’t have the exact details, but by looking at the video it appears to have been created with a CAM system. I am sure the part could have been optimized a little to further reduce cycle time, however our distributors as well as us here at Hurco are under similar time constraints as many of our customers, and often reach a point where continuing to edit the program is going to start to add time to the total time to complete a part. In a perfect world, we would all edit every program to absolute perfection, but most of the time we get it to the point we feel the program is efficient enough and that any further edits will add time to the overall process and run with that. This program was probably only run once or twice, if it was going to be run hundreds of times then the edits become more feasible! We are always looking for the balance point of efficiency in programs and completing the part. Time is money, and determining the cutoff point can sometimes be a hard point to find, as we all enjoy taking it just one more step!

I think it would be really cool if hurco made smaller more affordable mills and lathes for schools and hobbyist. I feel like hurco's conversational has a lot of potential for people getting into cnc. If they outgrow the small machines they can move on to a more capable one without any learning curve. Hurco, if you do make new machines please don't do what others have done and try to sale an overpriced desktop router. No one wants that. Make it an actual machine with linear ways, useful spindle taper, and decent travels, just in a smaller package.

Hi Kernel Collective, to answer that sort of question we would need more info from you. What WinMax software version are you currently using? Also, some people have the DXF option but they may think they have Solid Model Import as well. Do you have the solid model import option? Where are you located?

@@TheKernelCollective try one more thing for us first. A possible reason for this issue is you may only have the 2D DXF feature, OR 3D DXF option turned on. That can be verified by looking at the current software options on the control: • Press the AUXILIARY button on the control panel • Select the UTILITY SCREEN icon (Swiss Army Knife) from the pop-up menu • Select the SYSTEM CONFIGURATION softkey on the screen • Select the SOFTWARE OPTIONS softkey on the screen • Scroll down and verify the SOLID MODEL IMPORT - STEP option is enabled When you get time, what does it say?
