The Weather Channel could double its viewership if they would be more like this today.

The bulletin about the winter 🥶 storm watch for parts of Mississippi and Louisiana on Sunday, January 19 ,2025 is a great reminder of the snowstorm that came later the next day-it could be remembered by some people who lived through it! Good video! 👍👍👍

Beautiful song, the weather channel had good songs in the 90s to 2014, especially the 90s.

"Slightly modified" is right. I really don't notice a significant difference in the logos from the "You Need Us For Everything You Do" vs. "Weather You Can Always Turn To". The logo looks basically the same.

So is this the exact Weather Channel broadcast Americans would have been watching from coast to coast, or were these broadcasts regional, at least to some extent?

I remember laying on my couch that night watching TV when all of a sudden the lights flicker and the power cuts while I'm laying there in complete silence and darkness I could hear tree's outside my popping and snapping and hitting the ground with a loud thud I finally fell asleep when the eye of Fran moved over and everything got quiet ...until the the other side of the eye wall hit and all hell broke out again

It was a terrific storm. I miss this Weather Channel. Focused specifically on WEATHER not reality crap. I also remember Vivian Brown.

Ah, this is so great! I used to think I missed the 70s and the 80s the most, but I now think it was the 90s. In my opinion, after 2001, things have been in steady decline. No doubt others have said that for generations before me and will say the same for generations after me. Thanks for the new video.

Finally a new video! I subcribed you like couple years ago. I'm only 18 but your video bring me a lot of memories 🤍 I used to watch sort of this video back when I was 6-10 at my Hotel room with my parents.

I remember taping this on a VHS tape in 1989. I still have the tape. I remember how frequently they played Pico Pica by Dave and Don Grusin during the local forecast. This just proves my assumption. Five local forecasts in a row!

How do you know when the Blue pages (STAR local weather) goes on? I have noticed the Local forecast screens start at random times, like 7:57:13. Just curious. And what type of programing goes on behind the scenes when the local weather is on?

The day before the Nashville tornado! I remember that event very well, I was 12 then, I had just got home from school and my Mom had CNN on and they were covering the tornado, I turned on TWC and Jeanetta Jones was at the forecast desk talking about the tornado! What a year 1998 was for tornadoes!

Didn't realize some cable operators still used the older local forecast blue screen in '92. I know as early as 1991, our local cable provider had the local forecast graphics with pictures for the radar, current conditions, moon phases, etc, and the voice over that had phrases including "The current radar showing any precipitation in your area. Intensity is indicated by the color code at the top of the screen."

Not only was this the day before the Nashville tornado, but also one week after the F5 tornado that struck the western part of Birmingham, Alabama that killed 32 people. A very active severe weather season. It started in late February with the central Florida tornado outbreak that affected the Greater Orlando area. Gainesville, Georgia was hit early morning on March 20th (another notorious location in tornado history; 1936). Minnesota was hit late March, very far north so early in the season. Birmingham-Atlanta, April 8-9, 1998. Nashville, plus the "forgotten" F5, April 16, 1998. Later on in late May, Spencer, South Dakota, 6 fatalities, all of whom were elderly people.

WOW!!! The song at 56:58 is one of my favorite childhood songs from when they showed the extended versions of the local forecast. As a young kid, I would look at TWC at the top and bottom of the hour hoping this song will be played 😅
