Millennial here, I can tell you exactly why nobody talks about Gen X: They're the perfect Generation. Nobody enjoys talking about such amazing IDGAF & leave me alone attitude. Why? Gex X built the IT world of today, including the internet and we definitely know how it works and lived through how it evolved and relate to how it still evolves. Something many of the later Gens tend to forget and assume we don't get today's technologies simply because of our age gap. Big surprise to them when we easily come up with solutions when they are stuck.

Also the first generation to be born into abortion rights. Also the last generation to not live with computers. Many of us still had b&w tvs and we all only had landlines, (when cordless came out, it was an epic moment), as cell phones weren't around yet...unless you were SUPER wealthy...and that didn't happen until around mid 80s or so. We grew up with the magical computer/game tech as a new, wondrous and anomalous. Unlike our parents, we grew up with and experienced the tech as it grew, we did too. We have the values of the old AND the new as a result, to a pretty intense degree. Most importantly, we are the most sassy of all the gens and we are strong like bull. 💪❤️

Gen X was only named Generation X starting in 1992. Gen X literally were unnamed before this. Some speculated that the name may have derived from Malcolm X. I first saw the name in a Rolling Stone Article. Vietnam War Kids Generation, those who don't care what ya think, especially if you are a politician, or law enforcement, seems accurate. There were 50,000 KIA American servicemen and women during a Gen X'ers childhood. Many servicemen and women were the older brothers, fathers, and cousins of Gen X. A lack of respect for those running the country, authority, certainly was a result. Watergate, also had a significant effect. If the Brady Bunch show mentioned it in their show, among many others, then you know it affected not only adults, but the entire US population including Gen Xers. Peace out.

When your favorite thing in the whole wide world is to be left the hell alone to do your thing, being overlooked is cool like a mug.

I'm a Gen Xer. We are definitely the toughest generation. We got a chance to watch how tech has changed. Smarter. We had to go to libraries and actually read. Our music was the best.

The reason why we are overlooked is because we have done nothing to better the world at least the Boomers tried to fight for peace and Nuclear disarmament. Gen X have done nothing.

But gen xers continued the same bullshit they complain about their parents doing, by not even attempting to slow down the feds growth.

I was born in 1961 and I never thought I was a part of the Boomers. By the time I was 18, there was a recession. All the jobs with pensions were filled by the real Boomers. We were left out as the interest rates hit 20% on homes and service jobs were all that was left. So... Boomers got all the breaks. Oh and, my mom left for work when i was in grade 2 and i had a key for the house by grade 4.

That moment when you realize there will be Gen X'ers in control of nuclear arsenals in the near future... 👹

Nous sommes la génération de la transition entre deux mondes. Nous avons vu la queue de la comète du monde ancien, une société (en France) à la fois fière et agréable à vivre malgré les difficultés sociales dans certains milieux. Et nous avons vu aussi apparaître le monde d'après, celui de la perte progressive d'identité collective, de cohésion sociale, de l'apparition des nouvelles technologies que nous avons appris à apprivoiser et de l'individualisme consumériste. Le bilan c'est que nous avons beaucoup plus perdu que gagné entre l'avant et l'après. Et nous sommes les seuls témoins à avoir vécu cela de l'intérieur. Nous savons qu'il faut reprendre ce qui nous a été volé, sans refuser la modernité, mais, contrairement aux Babyboomers souvent déconnectés, aux Millenials, Y et Z (et Alpha) nous serons les seuls à pouvoir trouver le juste milieu.

55 here, seen a lot of changes and a lot of freedoms lost. Like to be left alone and not told how to think, talk or how to live my life. Still think the constitution is everything and all of the rights enshrined in it. Most of my generation that I know are pretty much the same.

I live close to here and do lots of remedial and refurbishment construction work here. The standard of construction here has been very poor and the buildings are ageing poorly, lots of cast concrete and reconstituted stone that is crumbling away. The rendered (stucco) buildings are covered in red algae and stain that is very hard to remove. The road design does not slow people down in cars, its like one big rat run, racing from junction to junction.
