The Cobra Cutting Extinguisher uses high-pressure water mixed with an abrasive to cut through walls, roofs, and other structures from the outside. This allows firefighters to quickly reach and attack fires inside buildings without entering. The water then cools and extinguishes the fire, reducing damage and improving safety for the firefighters.

Not sure if this channel actually promotes a product or if it's just some weird firefighting gonzo thing.

So, you punched a couple of holes in a wooden door? And you didn't even open it. You could at least have carved a hole in like using a light saber. Explain to me how this is better than putting a Halligan bar in the jamb and levering out the door.

Hi! This video showcases the Cobra tool and its ability to pierce the material. The key benefit is enabling firefighters to cool fire gases safely from outside the fire compartment. The high-pressure water jet swiftly pierces materials, creating a fine mist that lowers the temperature inside without introducing oxygen. For in-depth details, check out our website.

The Multi-Purpose Nozzle (MPN) is a complement to coldcut™ cobra cutting extinguisher. MPN is a nozzle similar to conventional low pressure nozzles and can provide variable spray patterns and nozzle pressures. The nozzle is easily connected onto the same hose used for the Cobra lance and can deliver the same amount of water, but at a lower pump pressure.

Seems like an excellent idea, though I wonder about the nozzle reaction and the total flowrate. Most vehicle fires I've fought have been with 44mm lines, with a rather easy to manage hose. I like the smaller hoses for management, but that would make this a high pressure, correct? Or am I missing something here. The firefighter there didn't have much trouble, so perhaps I am just reading too much into it. Still looks like it could get an excellent knock down on small scale fires! And all in a small package as that sprinter van, too!

Many first responders have smaller vehicles equipped with Cobra, the MPN gives them a possibilty to fight regular fires as well. The pressure at the nozzle is around 25 bar and we recommend that it can be used for smaller fires with a car fire as a maximium. The hose is extremely light and easy to handle.

Oh my God! In the US they would claim that the steam killed everyone within a 1/2 mile.

Can it be mounted on a ariel platform with hose up to bucket for use on attic fires? Possibly by recoil reel on boom with 25ft of hose with nozzle in the bucket

Very cool(no pun intended). Has it been tested with additives like Cold Fire? Does it dramatically help or hinder? What is the equipment wear and tear results like?
@AndersTreweOriginal6 жыл бұрын
The Cobra cutting extinguisher has been tested with some additives, both saline and detergents. It has some effect on smoke gas cooling (time/volume) and re-ignition. Cooling time is reduced by about 10%, and re-ignition time will be a bit longer than without (depending on percentage admixing and how long you spray after temperatures have gone below critical levels). Cooling time reduction of 10% is in the order of seconds to minutes, so it is not really significant. Re-ignition could be significant depending on the situation, for instance available stand by crew for following BA-attack, incident commander risk analysis, and crew's training and experience level. Additives could, however, have malignant effects on rest value and environment, so this should be considered in continuous risk analysis during the incident. The main advantage is to introduce water as extremely small droplets with a high velocity - doing so without breaching the fire compartment (i.e. introducing air). The trick is to expose as much surface area of a given amount water as possible to the fire gases. This will give the fire service a window of opportunity to enter the fire compartment at about 100 C (200-250 F) instead of 600 C (1100-1200 F) by mitigating flash over and back drafts and creating a better work environment. The method is combined with tactical ventilation, thermal imaging and standard BA-attack (although in a lower temperature than otherwise). The equipment has a yearly maintenance program, as all fire fighting equipment. The technical life time is about 15 years, parallel to the fire truck it is mounted on. There are units that have been in operation with fire services for close to 20 years.
