research all zoning laws. any structure and its construction, use and everything is regulated by state. Or they can remove the structure.... know the rules before you buy and build AND use a living space.

I heard a lot of Florida Counties are working on rezoning many residential lots down to as low as 400sqf to allow for Tiny homes. These are not tiny home communities with HOAs, these are private, individual residential lots! This is great if it happens, but what I would also like to see is them relax the whole owner-builder process to let us do more of the planning and engineering work as Florida engineering services are so expensive and they are rarely interested in such small projects. Sci-fi talk, but right now AIs are able to fully design small homes with all the needed wind, structure and energy ratings (and that is only going to get better) but that's not a signed and stamped plan and are counting building departments going to be accepting of that? The Federal government wants to see more people in home ownership, but that is not even realistic if everybody needs to be a 2500 sqf house in the city or near the coast. One Idea I've been floating around is rather than more blank check writing, subsidize services that enable those who are willing to build to get access to the tools they need to do it. I know it sounds scary, but armed with signed and approved plans, guidance, instructions and support I feel most able bodied, slightly mechanically inclined people could build a simple 400 sqf house.

I totally love what you’ve done with your home, but I gotta ask, what do you do about roaches, snakes, mosquitoes, and flies with all your doors are open? I’m in Florida and cooking even outside draws flies like crazy. Roaches and mosquitoes are also a common occurrence in woody areas. My main interests it in your solution to the flying pests. We have to treat for roaches on going and snakes as needed. We are just starting our shed to home journey and the pests make being on the property kinda miserable. I appreciate any tips and suggestions.

Why above ground? Because who wants to manually dig a big hole by hand in the solid Georgia clay… and over the course of these 12.5+ years we’ve been creating our off-grid lifestyle we’ve made it a point to do what we want for ourselves, and what makes us happy & pleases us. Fin’s house in Wandsworth 🇬🇧 was a little more than 800sqft and our house in Parsons Green 🇬🇧 was slightly more than 700sqft… 👍👍🏽 Our 12’x30’ (exterior dimensions) Beloved Cabin shed-to-home conversion is 304sqft (interior) and when combined with the additions of our greenhouse-kitchen and greenhouse-bathroom makes our total square footage just about 500sqft. 👍🏽👍 (Also, it’s 10.5’ from floor to ceiling in center of cabin.) Fun Fact: Depending on the professional source, the average house size in the UK is 818sqft - 828sqft. How small is your home? Did you build your house yourself as we did or did you use a builder? How long have you been in your tiny house? We’re always super interested in what others are doing for their tiny house and are super excited to hear what they are doing in their own personal tiny lifestyle 😊👍🏽👍 - Fin & John - 🙏🏽+🙏=❤️

This was from over 3+ years ago… yes it was blurry back in those days when m there was no internet out here on our off-grid 16-acre homestead and cellular was sketchy at best, but as of October 2023 STARLINK finally became available out here in our area… feel free to comment on the video quality of our videos we’ve posted since then 👍👍🏽
