Hey! I just took step 1 last month and my last NBMEs were 73,74,77. In the scored era step 1 score was ultra predictive of step 2 score. 77% is only 228 lol, so I wonder if I have to do strong content review like boards and beyond for step 2 to get into the 260 range. Only problem is I don't want to prep inefficiently and waste time. Would appreciate your thoughts thanks!
@kgoswami1421 күн бұрын
Hello, thank you for asking. First off congrats on finishing step 1! Secondly I would say no you don’t have content insufficiencies, I’d say u have a very strong base from where you can build clinical next steps for step 2. Like if you start studying now you will be doing great on basics of step 2 and building up in right direction. May I ask what your plan for studying is?
@usmlestudy-w4v20 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! Tbh I've been trying different things. What I'm thinking now is read BnB slides and watch just the management or any tricky part with extra focus - I'm debating incorporating FA 11th edition or clinical algorithms to read/review with a study partner in the evenings (books haven't arrived yet but I'm wondering if they would be a good use). Current vague plan is: First -> 3-5 days on BnB+ Dr. HY/DIP in the evenings with workout + Amboss 40 Qs with quick review on content days Then -> 3-5 days to do 40 Q/day with UW subject specific - full day to spend with review - evenings can do mehlman pdfs with a study partner for 1 hr per day This sounds very vague but lol I’m tryna figure it out. I also wonder if doing a 3 hour review of pathoma for that system would help prior to doing questions. THis sounds like too much resources however.
@usmlestudy-w4v20 күн бұрын
Overall - I’d like to do atleast 1.5 passes of UW (try for 2 ). 1 pass of amboss. NBMEs atleast once, but newest 3-> 2-3 passes. Important CMS forms 2x minimum, and weak ones more maybe. That would amount to: 1. UW -> 6,000 to 8,000 Qs 2. Amboss -> 3,400 Qs 3. CMS forms -> 8x4 = 32x50 -> 1600 Qs (2 passes = 3200) 4. NBMEs Form 9 through 15 -> 7 x 200 -> 1400 Qs (2 passes = 2800) 5. UWSA 2 at minimum -> 160 Qs Total -> 15,560 Qs + Dr HY + couple useful mehlman PDFs + BnB slides/videos wherever needed + DIP imp podcasts over and over. I have 6 months of full time to study for this as an IMG, but that feels short for all this so I’ll def have to let go of some things as I move forward. Would love to hear your thoughts!
@kgoswami1420 күн бұрын
@@usmlestudy-w4v Hello, thank you for sending me your plans all laid out. I would say probably skip out on pathoma videos for review. Doing B and B plus questions plus mostly DIP id say over Dr. HY unless specific topics that HY covers that you DIP doesnt. This probably can cut the amount of resources you use. You have a good idea of doing UW 1.5 times over if possible twice would be even better. Amboss is great addition too especially its 200questions that show up on every exam section which is a must to do. 6 months is plenty of time, trust you can do really well on this! I do think you need a daily schedule though, like figuring out how much of every resource to do everyday. It would help a lot bringing some direction. If you need help with making that I can help and we can talk about more details if you have more questions. Email me at [email protected] and we can go from there. Hope to help!

We do build muscle and look really good, and there's no excuse for not being able to as a south asian. But the normal build of south Asian vs caucasian is traditionally less muscle and more fat. Ofc it can be outworked and fixed.

Hi! I was wondering if I could be ready to take step 1 in 3 days. Took all NBMEs online and timed. NBME 27 - 63% June 23rd, NBME 29 - 68% July 14th, NBME 30- 73% July 31st , NBME 31- 74% Aug 23rd. I took free 120 at the test center and it was only 62% on Aug 13th so I pushed the test back from Aug 20 to Aug 29th. I now took UWSA 3 and scored only 56% -> 209. sorta scared to take the test on Aug 29th.I found the UWSA 3 SUPER hard, the first two blocks had so many complex worded qs that werre different from the NBME style.
