Hi! So I’m a bit confused on what the measurements for the pockets are I know you said 4 inches from the top and 7 inches wide from the outer edge but I’m still confused on what to actually cut the pocket measurements to on the fabric. So it lines up with those measurements from top to edge??
@MaddieLynn3 күн бұрын
The dimensions for all the pieces are in the video description to make it easier to follow. The pocket is 8x7 and then you just center it in the front (on my front piece you’ll see I drew lines for my pocket placement to be in the center). Hope that helps

This is such a lovely video with so many useful patterns! Thank you so much for compiling this 🥰 I will say, the subscribe button was up for a very long time to the point that it started to overwhelm me (I know, very silly but it did). Absolutely keep it if you find it makes a difference as I think you truly deserve it, but I wanted to share my thoughts as something to think about if you find it helpful. Again, the video is great and I love these patterns! Will definitely tackle some of these ❤️

As someone who likes front opening dresses and blouses you don't need to use button holes, I just sew hooks and eyes [or hooks and make my own loops as they blend in better] and then if you want to you can simply sew a button on the outside over the hook part. You can also leave it with nothing or you can put a placket over to make it appear as though the 'buttons' are hidden [hides any hint of where you sewed the hooks on that way as well so you can sew through all the layers except the placket for extra strength if needed]. Another solution are press studs [I think they have another name in the US but not sure what it is, metal or plastic and they press together to fasten the garment]. I find the most secure is a combination of both hooks and press studs, so much faster than sewing button holes and easier to adjust if you gain or lose weight at a later stage as well.

Do pattern testers usually receive a payment for their work? I'm thinking about sewing time, fabric, time for feedback to the designer, photos being shooted and provided to the designer, ... Or is there any other kind of agreement?
@MaddieLynn16 күн бұрын
Every designer is different, some pay testers but most offer testers the pattern for free. I find that if you already love the pattern and designer testing isn’t work, it just another fun project!

I was really hoping for some mens pattern, but great to know about mood and bet I can find some men’s pattern there
@MaddieLynn22 күн бұрын
My audience is primarily female so I didn’t include any men’s patterns, but maybe I should do a video about that in the future.
@KennethCatoe22 күн бұрын
@@MaddieLynn that would be great! I looked at Mood; and they have a very limited number of men’s pattern- I’m new to this: so maybe a video how to make a customized pattern? The shirts I buy never all fit in the same place I have to pick neck, shoulders or abdomen for a good fit. One reason I wanted to try seeing to see if I could make something specific for my body

I believe that the point of pattern testing is to follow the directions to see if they make sense to a beginner sewist and not to do it a better way because you have been sewing for years. I too have been sewing for many years so I also have my own/better way of doing things but that would defeat the point of being a tester. How can we know if the directions make sense if you don’t follow them?
@emilymcauleyАй бұрын
Lovely! Wondering if you added pockets to the "inside" of the yellow vest as well then you could stitch them both on with the machine in one go and lose the need to hand stitch. Obviously a different look, but any idea 🤷🏼♀️
@MaddieLynnАй бұрын
I definitely considered that, but decided I wanted the yellow side without pockets, that would have made it so much easier though!
