Reminds Me of duets between Papa Jo Jones and Milt Buckner. Interesting.

Not only is Butch the greatest big band drummer, he is almost another level of Buddy Rich. While Rich was a great drummer, no doubting it, one could consider his playing to be a bit repetitive at times. Butch’s playing is almost unparalleled, as not only does he have that nice and more modern sound, he was not always trying to show off and be flashy. Yes, he evidently could and would at times, but it wasn’t always constant line Buddy’s. Not to mention, Butch utilised dynamic range a lot more. And to make matters better, it seems as though he had a very good relationship with his band mates and the count himself. What an honour it would have been to watch him live. Rest easy, dear legend🦅🦅

Krupa actually loved playing drums unlike all the drummers out there today that have no good honest reason why they took up the art form.

Reminds me of a lower-volume version of the jazz pieces played by "The Fisherman" and his band in the jazz-bar scene of the classic 1949 film "D.O.A."

I wish Jazz was his problem today as it was from 1935 through 1945 sincerely JW Miller😮 I was told that back then the local PBS station has claimed that there were some 30,000 bands on the road at that time and I'm sure they did on what they could to boost the economy and libido

The drum solo is one of the best I've heard. Is "Nardis" the name of the song or the drum solo? Either way I really enjoy this it's another great video by thecrippledrummer 🔥 👍👍

Classic Krupa crisp solid and never missing a beat. I listen and can visualize Gene playing spinning the sticks and catching them in the air keeping time and rhythm. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The most influential drummer of the 20th Century. End of story.
