Beautiful plant! 💖 I do have a question though. I noticed that the openings in the moss pole are quite small. Is it actually able to root inside the pole or are you using the pole for mostly support? Considering the plant is pretty tall I would usually assume it is rooted throughout the moss pole but it’s hard to tell from this clip.
@myplantalbum4 күн бұрын
Thanks! It’s very much rooted in the moss pole. When the aerial roots are nubbins it squeezes itself through the mesh and then it grows thicker within the moss. I find monsteras are pretty good in finding the support to climb into.

Mine hates when anything touches the roots except water! I tried mine in bark and leca and both times the roots rotted right off and I had to put it back into the black tea mix...

Dang my phalaenopsis looks like 💩 but to be fair i got it from Walmart in one of their sphagnum moss no drainage cups. It's been in rehab since then. Idk if you've ever used black tea to get your orchids to grow but I made a weak glass with aquarium water and used it on my phalaenopsis and my Hoya Lucerne and the hoya started blooming and the orchid is regrowing it's rotten roots!

Nice!!! Love it when I see new root growth! I occasionally use the miracle grow orchid spray fertilizer.

@@myplantalbum that's what I was looking for but my local stores don't carry it. That's when I learned that black tea replicates the tannins in rainwater produced in the forest by tree bark that our favorite plants grow on, the tannins signal the plant that is raining and time to grow!

Excuse me, there, usually, is the plant! Also, you can lay the 'cute' ones too. They are definitely sticky enough
@myplantalbumАй бұрын
You have to try this specific brand. It’s soooo sticky. Also I like the big ones cuz it provides more coverage
@simong.h.4563Ай бұрын
So, this is advertising?!? Because everything is sticking to this sheit. If I don't plan to catch a human with them, it definitely works!@myplantalbum
@myplantalbumАй бұрын
@@simong.h.4563 not advertising. I’ve tried the cute ones and they don’t work as well for me. Maybe you have tried a different brand from What I’ve tried.

I've tried the very same shape you showed and it works really well, it trapped like hundreds. I still have to deal with the larvae, just read in another video that bottom-watering and covering the surface with cinnamon work wonders

My loves, just add ground cinnamon to the top of the soil, works a treat and prevent most moulds growing on the top of your soil if you over-water xxx

I’ve heard this too! I’ve not tried it myself but will keep it in mind

I use beneficial nematodes, they’re a natural predator to fungus gnat larvae and they are small and mix into water

Nice! I’ve not used that before and fortunately have not needed to.

This destroys a lot of leaves though because of the high stickyness. I always put them in vertically and use neem oil as pesticides. After they are treated, I‘ll bottom water when they get watered the next time
@myplantalbumАй бұрын
Definitely do what works better for you! I’ve not had that experience. If it gets stuck on a leaf I very slowly peel it off.

Agreed! I just helped a spider get free from one of these sticky traps. Just explaining that the stickiness is so strong it even catches bigger bugs
