Hola Alberto. A beautiful small lake. I'm glad to see the little feeder streams are still running fairly strong. Being a weekday with few visitors the lake seems more isolated than it really is. The place definitely looks cold and mountainous. The shot of the little cabin in the valley is very scenic. I love the look of the tops of distant pine trees hidden by mist or low clouds. It reminds me of scenes along the old dirt road between Oaxaca and Puerto Angel and another dirt road between Oaxaca and Puerto Escondido. The new paved highway has taken away all of the adventure from what used to be a ten hour drive. The ducks seem happy, even in the rain. As long as I can stay warm and dry I can enjoy watching the rain come down. It's sort of therapeutic and hypnotizing. Mexico is really beautiful towards the end of the rainy season when everything is green. Sometimes the transformation is astounding. At the end of the dry season the jungle (is it still there as it was 50 years ago?) between Sayulita and Puerto Vallarta is dry and shriveled up. Well into the rainy season it is lush and imposing. Same with the Pacific slope between Autlan de Navarro and Barra de Navidad. In the dry season it looks like a dry scrub forrest. During the rainy season I've seen sections where the branches of trees on either side of the road stretch out and meet in the middle, creating a green tunnel. Somewhere south of Valle Nacional the then new road was half covered with vines. An amazing country if one can escape the confines of Cancun. Hola to Adriana. Stay well.

The El Chico National Park, which is where the Cedral belongs, is very beautiful this season. As you say, there are roads where the trees resemble a green cave with truly spectacular views. You have to go well covered because it is very cold and humid and generally because Rainy afternoons but worth it. The Molango part is one of my favorites there because of the Atezca lagoon, the fog comes down almost from 2 in the afternoon giving a very beautiful appearance; I have seen the Oaxaca route but curiously I am from Jalisco and I don't know the one in that part you mention, in a short time we will return to my land and I hope to have the opportunity to record all that, I send you greetings friend, a hug .

Hola Alberto. Good video about an interesting, picturesque town, although I'm not sure it really is a Pueblo Magico, because if it was really magical there would be a way to be transported up to the cross without all of that huffing and puffing. I was starting to get worried about you : ). Great view from the summit, but the lower viewpoint is almost as good, or at least good enough. Normally big crosses don't impress me that much, but this one made of blue glass and stainless steel is interesting. Usually I prefer the 16th century atrium crosses, such as the one in Huejotzingo or Acolman. Real artistry. The monumental crosses are more of an engineering achievement. The tree ferns you mentioned I've seen growing along the road between Tuxtepec and Ixtlan de Juarez, Oax. Years ago I grew some in my garden in san Diego. They need lots of water and prefer shade. Lucky you were off the mountain when the rain arrived. When i was in Mexico between 1967 and 1982 I would explore as much as I could in the morning until the rains arrived, then hope I was close to a restaurant or museum, or was on a bus headed back to my hotel. In 1974 I spent the morning visiting a very interesting Saturday market in Huauchinango. Lots of Indians wearing traje indigena. When the rains arrived, rather than going to Xicotepec, which none of my guide books knew anything about, I drove through the rain to see Epazoyucan. By the time I arrived the rain had stopped. The atrium was all tall grass and weeds back then, more appropriate in a way. The town center of Xicotepec looks nice. The way the trees around the plaza are trimmed creates great shade for sunny days. I often prefer sunny days but the rain and dark clouds create great atmosphere which your video captures. The 23 meter high virgin is quite an engineering accomplishment, but also has some artistic merit, Even so I tend to prefer the smaller 16th-18th santos housed in the Museo del Virreynato in Tepotzotlan, Those are really exquisite. The church is interesting. I think you said it was founded in the 16th century, and the original church probably was, but this church appears to date from the late 19th century, or even as late as the mid 20th century. The rose window is a nice, uncommon touch. The conventos in Coixtlahuaca, Yecapixtla and Molango have nice 16th century examples of this rare feature. No stained glass, of course. Eventually I'll get around to more of your fine videos, including the one about the dancers from Oaxaca that performed in Pachuca. Hola to Adriana. Stay well.

Hehe, the lack of physical condition for the climbs and this almost Chinese wall (in fact that's what they call it) left me tired, but it's good exercise. Indeed, in recent years they have built monumental engineering works trying to be "the highest cross", the highest virgin, etc., but nothing like the original and of its normal size, these works may leave them a lot of profits in the process hehe, Imagine more than 120 tons of material to take it to the top ufff I don't even want to see how they did it. In the sandy area very close to Actopan they also built a concrete cross of more or less the same size. It has an elevator and a viewing point at the top and at the beginning a large reflector that made it fantastically illuminated at night. It looked very good, but that only lasted the first month until they saw the cost of electricity haha and the Elevator needless to say, it has never been used. And did the ferns last a long time? I imagine that in addition to a lot of water and shade, they require the special climate of that direction since it is semi-tropical. Take care friend, blessings.

@@PuebleandoConAlberto Hola Alberto. San Diego has a Mediterranean climate, but with enough water most semi-tropical plants thrive just fine, especially near the coast. The cross you describe in Actopan reminds me of the structures the wealthy English once built during the Victorian era. They often resembled Gothic towers or small castles. They were called "follies". I look forward to watching more of your videos.

Hola Alberto. I've been enjoying your videos the past few weeks but have been too busy to comment. What good news about this reservoir. I remember your previous video showing how everything was bone dry and your tour of the previously drowned church. What a change. This year's rainy season has brought a lot of good news for some states, some more than others, and I guess Guerrero could do with a bit less rain this week. If only we knew how to steer the clouds to where they are needed. Any chance you are in San Miguel de Allende this weekend. La Alborada sounds really wild and a bit crazy if you have the stamina. It would make a great video if you can stay awake all night. Excellent job on this video. Hola to Adriana. Stay well.

Indeed, very good news for the majority of reservoirs in central Mexico, we have been visiting with pleasure several lakes such as Texcoco, Tecocomulco, Vicente Aguirre and all of them almost completely recovered, it is a shame that, as you say, we cannot direct the clouds and avoid disasters like the one in Guerrero. and Oaxaca, even in the USA there in Atlanta and Florida, all that remains is to take preventive actions and change bad habits such as throwing garbage in the sewers.
