Try lowering your pickups instead of putting them to high to get more volume from the strings vibration and don't forget to turn up your amp! Also get some Gibson pump polish and keep cleaning the neck with it and eventually it won't stick anymore 😊

@Alfonzo8625 күн бұрын
@Thenon-mediocreguitarist what a shame about your sg. However, I hope that you're having much better luck with the 61 vintage SG. My 2022 sg standard 61 was $3699 dollars in Oz and even though it's not perfect I still like it. However, I have been eying a customshop sg 61les paul and it would be nice to own, but they're here about $8,000 dollars and that is a big chunk of change to pay for a home playing guy like myself. By the way, have you tried the Gibson SG standard 61 master vibrola in the faded finish because on those guitars, you wouldn't get that sticky neck problem? I actually wanted one of those 61 sg's but couldn't get one because they didn't have them in stock, so I got the gloss stop tail Gibson 61 sg standard instead
@pauljohnson368611 күн бұрын
I got a new Gibson SG standard after trying it next to the 61 version... I did not like that skinny neck... The full pick guard standard sounded so much fatter with a roaring mid range.. The wider but slim neck is perfect... The 61 sounded thinner and muddy for my liking... I have never tried the model that you have, but guess it is similar to the 61 in feel... The Epiphones are nice too but I just can't get on with the look and feel of the Indian Laurel fretboards... I have it on a Casino and it's unpleasant... Rosewood, Ebony and maple for me any day... Having said that, I do have a Gibson custom inspired high end epiphone les paul custom custom which has the ebony fretboard and gibson pickups and electrics.. Its great.

Hi 😊. If you find a guitar you like and bond with , don't despair if it has a high gloss neck. You can easily render that. If 🎭 you mask off the head and body carefully and with some 0 or 00 steel wool rub off the sheen gently and Bob's your uncle. Don't be afraid to make an instrument your own. Production guitars are just generic concepts, they are just a rough tool to be modified, even the most expensive boutique guitars fall short of being good 🎵🎶 musical instruments.Have Fun . There are people who are too far away from a music store, so they buy sight only.How in the Frick, do you do that?For a two hour drive to save hundreds,do the math.Then AFTER .the purchase they try it OK. by me,besides who cares,it's not what I do that matters.Thanks for the answer, I would really like to know if it's you, or the guitar.No reason for me to lie, l am over 70, never had that problem.Have a shiny red SG by Gibson, 2020. Wow, .I’ve heard and read about people preferring a satin finish to the back of the neck of their electric guitars. I’ve also learned of players feeling more comfy with Epiphone models than Gibson ones. This could be the first time I’ve been conscious of a player saying their hands stuck to the back of the neck of any guitar. That is especially surprising after having myself owned several Epiphone guitars, all with gloss finish at the back of the neck and my only Gibson model, a Les Paul in gold, having a gloss finish on the body and a satin finish on the back of the neck - and suffered no neck drag on any of them. All that being said, I still otherwise relate to why your Gibson SG disappointed you and you chose to stick with the Epiphone. I have toyed with the idea through most of the 29 years that I have been a guitar player (having begun learning to play in 1995) with the idea of getting an SG model. Every time I become tempted by one, I back off. At the end of 2021, I instead purchase a different Epiphone model, a Flying V from a 2009 line that was exclusive to the Canadian retailer Long and McQuade, the Negative line. It feels kind of savory being an American musician located in New York City whose current Epiphone guitar model originated on the Canadian market.

Also, if I ever plug this guitar into a Line 6 Spider V60 MKII amp in Guitar Center, how well will the pickups sound, if I go to the insane setting on the amp? Super stoked to try this guitar out at G.C. I wonder how well this guitar will handle a set of Dunlop Heavy Core strings on it. Perhaps, the Jim Root Signature 6 string set, that allows you to play in Drop "A". And play all those heavy Slipknot riffs.
