Ιn order for this hostility to end is for Turkey to accept international maritime law and stop the threats. But now they are teaching the geopolotical ideal of Mavi vatan to childern in schools and that means that the new generations of Turkey will accept that Greece holds parts of their territory and they should get it back...in short they are creating hardcore hostility for Greece in the new generations..

Birkaç kez tatil için Yunanistan'a gittim. Kendimi diğer Avrupa ülkelerine kıyasla kendi ülkemde gibi hissettim. Hiçbir düşmanlıkla karşılaşmadığım gibi son derece sıcaklık gördüm. Tek dileğim ortak denizimiz olan Ege'nin bir barış ve dostluk denizi olması, dünyanın en güzel tatil denizi olmasıdır. Her iki ülke halkının savaş baronlarının iki ülke ilişkilerini gererek silah satma çabalarına karşı durması gerektiğini düşünüyorum.

Don’t be fooled by the sweet words of us Turks. Realistically, there is always conflict, it’s the order of the world, and we Turks must always be strong. We are surrounded by jackals who want to sink their teeth into us.”

Die Menschen haben nichts voneinander zu trennen. Leider lässt die Politik und die Politiker die Geschichte nicht ruhen. Sie hetzten die Menschen aufeinander und es funktioniert. Griechenland, Zypern haben gelieten. Die Wunden heilen nicht und nimmt kein Ende, weil beide Völker nicht in Ruhe gelasden werden. Die Griechen sind ein friedliches, aber stolzes Volk. Die Geschichte soll einfach Geschichte bleiben. Dann ist auch alles ok

I see it’s been more than four years since you posted this, but still, I want to share a thought; I strongly believe that the way the average Greek speaks English is full of - pronunciation - mistakes not so much because we lack - in Greek - some sounds found in English, but much more because the vast-vast-vast majority of us learn(ed) English at private schools where the teachers were/are not native English speakers, and even if they have spent time in England, for example, and then started teaching English in Greece, they do not really insist on the pronunciation aspect of teaching the language. I got both my “Lower” and “Proficiency” diplomas back in the day in my first attempts, so theoretically I was above average, but up to this day, in my late 40s, I’m still embarrassed by the way I pronounce certain sounds in English, no matter how much I’ve tried to improve. And to wrap this up, with all due respect to Greeks teaching English to Greeks (and I have no doubt that many do a very good job), personally, if I were a father, given that I’d have the means, I’d make sure to hire a private English teacher, who would not only be certified to teach the language, but also be a native speaker. I find it ridiculous that after spending XXXXX amount of time studying English, and only X amount of time learning Spanish and (Brazilian) Portuguese (both with native speakers), I have a decent Spanish and Portuguese accent/pronunciation, but a pitiful English one… :-):-)
@EasyGreekVideos2 күн бұрын
I agree, more attention should be paid to pronunciation, especially if it impairs comprehension, by both native speakers and Greek English teachers alike. To your point, I've also seen native speakers making the mistake of not really making pronunciation a priority. But yeah, It's also because Greek really does lack many of the sounds you'll find in English. Notice how Greeks have little problem learning how to speak, say, Spanish, another language with a poor repertoire of phonemes.

I was recently reading about a very successful and kind local businessman in the Cleveland, Ohio area whose family roots hail from Kimolos. His name is Xenophon ('Xen') Zapis, and he was a benefactor to many Greek and or Greek-American causes. He owned radio stations in the U.S., and I would imagine he helped various causes or projects in Kimolos as well. Just an interesting factoid!

I’m a tall, white skinned, blonde and blue eyed Turkish girl. Once I met a Greek woman. She was short, dark skinned, dark eyed and dark haired. Even though I never said I’m European she told me she’s the European one and not me. I never understood this attitude. Because I never said I’m European. She always looked at me with very jealous eyes. Unfortunately so many times in Greece women behaved me in a very jealous way…

I remember learning Greek at university 20 years ago, but the old Greek. Alphabet stays the same I think. And I'D LIKE TO KNOW IF there is or not a cursive type for handwriting, as in the Latin or the Cyrillic alphabets (for both the capital letters and their corresponding lowercase letters). THANK YOU!! PD: I never stop from getting surprised/admired about the similarity between Greek phonetic and the Spanish one, which is my native language.

Thanls alot for your videos. They're really useful. What does this Greek saying mean: "tall people are the servants of short people"?
@EasyGreekVideos7 күн бұрын
It means that tall people do things for short people because they can't, for example, tall people reach for things that are at shelves short people can't reach.

I must say I was surprised by the answer of those interviewed. I’m learning Greek and hope to soon visit the country to continue my studies. With their arguments, anybody in the americas could be European. We are all descendants of Europeans, with the same language, influence of food, music, culture, but a new culture was forged. I personally would have considered Greeks as Europeans with some eastern influence, but never Asian. Spain had a similar history to Greece, but I’m almost 100 percent sure they would never hesitate to consider themselves anything other than Europeans.
