Lovely recording of a sweet piece by Dubois. If I might make a small constructive criticism, I think playing the legato sections slower isn’t necessary - there is enough contrast in articulation to make a change in tempo feel a little effusive, especially if you do use it as a sortie when the marching speed should be maintained for the procession. Especially when you get the semiquaver passage in the left hand, it’s much more thrilling to keep the speed up. But that’s just my opinion. Thanks for sharing!

Thank You. No one book comes to mind… just early education, solitude, lots of gigs, studying the works of the masters, especially the little forms like the easiest of sonatinas, then trying to make them your own, always trying to focus on the music, never on the You as the composer. I think the You doesn’t make the music, I try to see the Music make the composer. A funny, strange process of becoming that takes years and years.
