Hi mate, is the bmc engine group still about? I can't seem to find it

Can I ask you, what can be the cause if the head doesn't wanna come off? I'm having trouble with getting it off, it seems to be stuck

The engine is the sacrificial anode in this arrangement. This can cause pitting and microporous surfaces.

Great video. My bmc is smoking with a blueish tint. After ruling out any issue with valves or head gasket, I believe i have worn out piston rings. Im on a budget and pulling the engine out is very dificult. Do you believe is posible to remove the cylinders with limited access and not pulling the engine out?

Hello Mr Jones, I have very much enjoyed your series on the 1.8 litre diesels. We have a BMC 1800 Diesel, a Thornycroft T108. The temperature gauge doesn't work properly and I am looking for a replacement sender. The control panel has all electric gauges and the gauges are BDO and the there are two blade connectors on the sender in the cylinder head. Have you any idea where I can buy another sender? Would you have a part number? Many Thanks John

Quick Question, Would the clutch kit be the same for the petrol and diesel Oxford, i own a 16/60 that has a BMC 1.5 Diesel which is the same as what was in the Oxford VI so i was just wondering if i was to get a clutch for it would the petrol 16/60 be the same clutch. Thanks.

Evening, I am putting the injection pump timing together on the timing cover side on my BMC 1.8. The 4 bolts that keep the half holding plates in position don’t have a lb per square inch in the manual. How tight should I tighten them before I fold the 2 tab’s over?. 😀👍🇪🇸

No sign of the camshaft locking washer being folded over?

Hiya, and thank you, these videos are very informative. Is the Facebook page still working? I am looking and learning on behalf of a friend, She bought a boat which came with a 1500 BMC engine but wasn't actually installed. She was told that the engine had been rebuilt and was ready to go back in. I know nothing about these engines particular engine's but within 30 seconds I noticed that the bell housing is missing. It doesn't actually look too bad but after looking in the rocker box cover I don't think it had just been rebuilt. Any advice on these engines and where to find parts would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have a BMC 1.5 Captain in a 1970 Seamaster 27. Lots of boat owners struggle to find a decent and reliable mechanic for these engines. There's not many good videos on working on the BMC marinised engines, but I'm pleased to see you have started a channel.

LOVE your videos. I've got a westerbeke w30 in my sailboat, which is a bmc 1500 block, and most yachties online say don't bother to rebuild it. Your videos make me think its not a totally crazy concept. Looking forward to the next one!

Great videos. I'm very interested on your BMC 1.5 diesel videos. This motor is placed im my tractor which was built by AEBI (Switzerland). I've a problem with diesel in the oil sump and I hope that you'll bring a video about injection pump and fly wheel for this motor, soon (like BMC 1.8). Thank you and greetings from Germany.

Hi hows the rebiuld going when you put the crankshaft oil seal in on bmc diesel does it fit in the bellhousing or in the engine im trying to do one thanks

Great videos. I have just finished my BMC 1.8, and I have a question. I removed and cleaned the airfilterbox, it was completly sealed with old oil and dirt. Is there supposed to be a filter inside the housing? It now makes a rather loud "popp popp" sound when the engine is running. If I cover it with a rag, it gets a bit more silent, so I just wondered if there should be some sort of filter there. Thanks for your videos 🙂 Best regsrds from Norway.

Great video. Thanks for spending the time doing it and it was probably a nause holding the camera and trying to fiddle with the engine. With the oil filter adapter what size is the threaded hollow bar please? And would you consider using locktite to fit the ‘engine end’ to keep it within the engine when changing the oil filter?

The cylinder head on our BMC 1.8 suffered detonation on the valve seats rendering the head as scrap. Rob got in touch through my appeal on a forum and supplied a dressed head at a very reasonable price that included postage to Ireland. I fitted it and our boat is running as sweet as a watch. I couldn't recommend Rob highly enough and I am a marine professional. Wishing you every success Rob.
