The home is off the west side of FM521 about 2000 feet south of CR45 on property commonly known as Mojo Lakes. The specific lake it is next to is Chenango Lake. Unsure if it is even visible from the roadway as the area is heavily forested. Older locals have known about this place for decades and it is on private property & basic respect for others should tell you to stay off the property unless invited. It can still be seen on Google maps.

So very glad to find some live Manda! Only saw her once at the Cantab Lounge as Geoff Bartley's open mic feature. She made a big impact, obviously, as I keep searching for her every few years on KZbin, only I finally found her! I keep wanting to shush the talkers! LOL!

I use to love going there for the summer when I was a child. My mother was a caretaker there throughout the mid 80's . Hope they restore that house one day. Shame to let it go..

I was eight years old when the house was completed. I used to go spend the night down there with Doug, Chip and Richard. Hang out in the Airstream and pick Strawberry's out of the back of the El Camino which had been converted into a mobile garden...We will rebuild it one day!!! The House of the Century will be REBORN!!!!!

Nice! I went with Doug in 1999 when I was at U of H. I built a scale model of HoC and it was amazing to work with him creatively. I have nice photos from our trip.

The owners are now aware that people are breaking into the property without permission. They are installing security cameras and will prosecute all future incidents of criminal trespassing. Don't invade other peoples' private property without permission! It is against the law!

I did the soundtrack and yes it's an Electribe... This video is now being played daily at an exhibit at the MoMA in New York City, and you can hear the song clearly :-)

Amazing architecture! BTW - Who did the soundtrack? Do I hear a KORG Electribe synth in there? ;-) (I'm taking a break from playing it to watch videos...)

Then make an easter egg hunt out of it! It is indeed visible on Google Earth. The house has been vandalized several times in the past which is why its location is not public.

Thank you for posting this information. I studied this house and rendered it in college long ago. It was a fantastic piece of architecture for modeling. They should revive this movement and shove our culture into the 21st century and away from the pseudo-post-Victorian stuff that dominates residential design today.

I was contracted to demolition the illuminated walkway in 1995ish by the Oshman's. An amazing house inside and out. It's a shame that it is run down now. I thought there intention was to renovate it when we removed the walkway. I guess it's location makes it flood prone though.

A house shaped this unusually, that is this white and located on a body of water near Angleton, Texas, is pretty easy to find on Google Earth. It took me about two minutes. I remeber reading about this house when I was a teenager and I realy loved it, still do. There are several other free-form ferro-cement houses out there and I haven't seen one yet that I haven't liked. Not a cheap way to build if you do it right, but the results are delightful.
@KonaChuck2216 жыл бұрын
This is a cool house. So for steel reinforcement you used 1/4" rebar, chicken wire and "black pipe"?. Anything else? Was the black pipe removed or is it still in the structure.

After viewing this I feel bad about giving you a hard time about being around when dinosaurs roamed the earth, so I wanted to retract that comment. Nonetheless the house looks EVEN MORE AMAZING as it endures time! The vines and lichen are beautiful! It seems such a modern structure even today; it will remain after the kids are telling my generation we are old... sigh. I have a feeling good design never dies, I just hope in my life I can contribute something this great. Thank you, again.

I just want to say thank you for posting this video. This is truly brilliant and I am honored to have been able to learn how such a brilliant design can be implemented by such brilliant (and determined!) people. You old guys sure can teach us kids a thing or two, I guess you all aren't a bunch of squares after all!
