I'm enjoying the 'competent Italy' arc handling their business in the desert. Im still hoping for a breakthrough there even if you said that's not an option :). Question about the rockets in normandy: how much damage do you need to deal with them before you consider that investment is payed off? Great stuff tho! Keep it up, my fave series by a large margin!
@KonglomeratYT5 сағат бұрын
Competent Italy was a surprise. I have only my experience with the game to thank for that lol. If my opponent was not a new player, then this would never have worked =P So, I've learned from a commenter that I am using the rockets incorrectly =P they could easily pay off the investment within a year if I used them correctly. Glad you are enjoying.

It's like panzer general if the map was the entire world and you added a diplomacy system, research, long-term logistics, and tons of historical choices and events. It's a lot of fun.
@Snaakie833 сағат бұрын
@KonglomeratYT yeah, I'm definitely going to check it out. Never really seen the hexagon tile gameplay like in Panzer General. (except for shitty android rip off games). But that was twenty years ago I guess. Oh man, I need to start gaming again. Those were the days.
@KonglomeratYT32 минут бұрын
I have played many similar games since then =P hex-based gameplay is quite a noteworthy niche these days. Plenty of fun ones to check out. Very time-consuming, though.

Thank you for this detailed explanation! You mentioned that SR 2030 doesn't have the best/most realistic economic simulation in video games, could you maybe recommend a game/games that do it better in your opinion?
@KonglomeratYTКүн бұрын
From the nation-ruling perspective? Geopolitical simulator gets really in depth, but is chronically prone to game-breaking bugs. Superpower 2 is a simpler alternative, but has well-known exploits that spawn infinite money with the press of an easily accidentally pressable set of buttons. Victoria 3 is mostly about economy, but not modern economy. So, it does a better job in a different realm. Realpolitiks is a nice simple abstraction of economic data if you prefer something easy, modern, and not prone to game-breaking bugs, but it really lacks depth.
@hismajestysirkart0she4ka2ndКүн бұрын
Wow, thanks a lot again! Unfortunately, I have already tried most of these games, except for the Geopolitical Simulator. Can I also ask your opinion on how realistically the AI behaves in this series (that is GS series)? Is it trying to imitate our world with his actions from the point of view of international politics, or is it just acting spontaneously and unrealistic?
@KonglomeratYTКүн бұрын
Spontaneously and unrealistic. Unfortunately, the best economy games do not have politics. The best political games lack in economics. The best war games lack in the other departments.

Japan had to attack the Dutch East Indies because of a lack of oil. They figured America would not stay out of it. The attached because of the embargo on scrap iron and oil.

I am aware of the history that led up to the IRL invasion of the DEI and the attack of Pearl Harbor. My complaint was that, given how many ahistorical choices the game gives, the most interesting ones are left scripted; even though choices existed. The game's description of historical events completely ignores the realities of the time. For example, the game pretends the Soviets never petitioned to join the Axis, painting it as if they were preparing for war with Germany in the years leading up. And it paints Japan's invasion of the DEI as inevitable, when half of the government wanted to invade the Soviets for Siberian oil instead.

As a player who only really got into this game this year - I 100% suffered through all of these. First nation I played was Macedon, but my primary frustration with them wasn't fighting the antigonids - it was how to stabilize the lands you get by defeating them. I've gotten a pretty good grasp on the happiness system now, but the game sure didn't provide any helpful feedback other than telling me "half of anatolia will rebel in 19 months".

Very timely video, sir! Recently purchased this game and doing my second playthrough, this time as the Russians. As you mentioned in the video, playing Mother Russia is quite depressing in early game as you certainly don't have near the military forces as Germany. Just trying to survive the German onslaught at this point! Appreciated your advice, especially about the need to protect the Caucasus, as I have completely ignored that area trying to protect Moscow. Hopefully not too late to divert some of my 1942 reinforcements to that area! Thanks again for all your time and effort doing these Strategic Command video series! :)

I have a question. I have few hundred hours into this game. I am confused of what makes other countries attract you. I been playing 2030 now and countries attack me. By the time I defeat one, another one declares war on me, and so on. These countries were not allies. Does number of units provoke others? Does number of military factories provoke? In 2020 if someone declared war on me, my reputation with others improves. In 2030 its not the case. They attacking me and my reputation is worse and worse.

You don't have to guess at which HQ positions will actually help supply. There is a chart in the manual (pg 161) that tells you the exact level of supply your HQs will boost to based on the supply of the tile they are on. The important thresholds are 6+ supply will be boosted to 10, 5 will be boosted to 8, 3-4 will boost to 6, and 1-2 will be boosted to 5. As a result, you want to position HQs right on the thresholds to get supply spread as far as possible. For low supply areas that usually means following the logical course of sitting your HQs directly on supply points, but for relatively high supply areas (like the urban parts of China) that usually means putting them a few tiles away from the cities (or your other HQs that are spreading 10 supply), right at the 6 supply drop-off.

That’s what happened on my case. Halfway through I started to slide into decadence. I had to destroy so many buildings and pump out culture and decadence reduction. It’s a cool mechanic but it’s also quite unavoidable and pretty poorly explained. Also renovating a large empire is incredibly tedious. Because the automated AI could not care less that you are sliding into stagnation, so you have to control every province manually.
@KonglomeratYT15 күн бұрын
Yeah i have learned the need for manual control on a large scale the more that I play. The AI is no good at managing.

interesting I typically go end scicilain warfare first. capturing Sicily is a race against time vs rome. so I go for Capture Sicilly so that I have AE and get a new Feudatory. then I go fix my government during the AE cooldown. then I go either reign in africa.... OR I go to Iberia depending on how compliant my tribal subjects are being.

I think the short duration of the game is probably because it would be extended by dlc, after the republic expansion era there would come a empire era, a cristianity era and maybe even a fall era wher tribes would be buffed and keeping big centralized empires almost impossible
@KonglomeratYT22 күн бұрын
With no such expansions coming for this game that sounds like a design flaw with the game itself. However, I don't mind the length. It is "short" compared to CK, but I think CK is a bit long. And it is longer than Victoria, but Victoria doesn't ever really get expanded.
