Where in the Willamette Valley? I’m in Hillsboro. Neil Ferris, AF repairs AND fireman of Oregon Rail Heritage Center’s Southern Pacific 4449, is less than 10 miles from my location. Perhaps we could meet somewhere convenient for food, beverage, and train talk! I’m @Tool-Meister

@ If you’re up for an in-person meeting, I’ll contact Neil to check his availability. He usually Is very busy with the “Christmas Train “ every December. So after Jan 1st will likely be his first available time. Perhaps we could meet in Woodburn, etc., unless you’re interested in a Portland Rail Heritage expedition.. My intention is to add some articulated locomotive comparison videos before year’s end. So, January would be best for me too. Give it some thought and we’ll figure out the best way to move this discussion off of KZbin…

What a beautiful train! Wonderful work modifying it to run on "real two rail track"! The silhouettes are a nice touch. Was the observation car ever produced in blue? Thank you for sharing.
@willamettevalleyAFtrains21 күн бұрын
@@flyerjunction Thank you. In 1941 American Flyer came out with a stamped steel heavyweight coach and observation coach in dark green, tuscan, and red. They never made blue heavyweights or a blue operating mail car. Even in prewar the Royal Blue was always a lower end train set. They did make blue whistling baggage cars and choo choo tenders for it.

Flyer sold couplers separately to convert their pre-war 3/16 cars to post war links and later on offered knuckle trucks to convert the link coupler cars. That train looks awesome! I hope to try that out one of these days.
@willamettevalleyAFtrains28 күн бұрын
@@HallofScienceWest Thanks for watching. I showed Gary yesterday the pairs of link coupler trucks in the 1946 catalog for converting. I also like the page in that catalog showing three new plastic B&O box cars on one side of the scale to one prewar diecast B&O car.
