How can you tell if you didn't release enough air? I put on a new pressure gauge and now it shuts off when the needle hits 65. I was thinking it should shut off at around 40-45. It's a Jet Pump.
@ntccXerblog10 ай бұрын
@ricg.4435, If there is air in your well's system, the pump will struggle to bring up the water. Your pump will take longer to fill the pressure tank; and the pump will make more noise than normal. Operating with air in the system can cause the pump to overheat and may lead to pump failure. As for the pressure, these pumps typically are set to operate from 30-50 psi. They do have a pressure switch which controls this range. Be sure to TURN OFF THE POWER TO THE PUMP TO AVOID ELECTROCUTION if you try to adjust the pressure switch. There are online written and instructional videos on how to adjust the pressure switch for your pump. Inspectapedia and wiki how are great resources. Hope this helps. Thanks for commenting.

Is the extender you are putting the window seal around, that goes inside the ceramic opening six inches long? Or maybe a better way of asking is how deep is the ceramic piece to the flue liner. Thanks.
@ntccXerblog10 ай бұрын
@tbicaretaker4232, Not sure how long. What's important is that the horizontal piece fit into the ceramic piece must not extend into the vertical flue.

If prime bolt Is stuck how to I prime? Or open the bolt? I know pumps for my fish tanks but am the bolt Is stuck /rusted. I can't find anything online about rusty or stuck prime bolt. I understand the theory and have primed before. 😅 I have used a hammer and wrench to try to open it. It's a newer well pump. Similar to yours. The only other thing I can think of is the well being empty due to summer 😅 trying to learn how to do this stuffn
@ntccXerblog Жыл бұрын
@canadianreefmaster To remove the prime plug use a pipe wrench. You might need to temporarily remove the pressure guage to have enough room to get the prime plug off. If so 1) be sure power is off 2) valve to house is off 3) pressure tank is empty 4) pressure valve reads zero 5) use pvc tape on pressure valve threads when re-attaching it to the pump Prime the pump as shown in this video 😀 Hope this helps and good luck.
@canadianreefmaster Жыл бұрын
@ntccXerblog I can do that all and have the issue is that even with jammer and wrench I can't get the bolt off. Looks rusted 😅 bigger wrench and hammer ? Or can I take the pressure Guage off and pour in that ? 🤔 thx a lot for the help. I'm on a rural island with limited reception.
@ntccXerblog Жыл бұрын
@canadianreefmaster Definitely use a pipe wrench, not an adjustable "monkey" wrench. If the pipe wrench alone doesn't do it, add a breaker bar (any strong pipe that fits snugly over the handle of your pipe wrench will do). The breaker bar increases the moment arm (length of the distance between your hand and the pivot point [prime plug]). This gives you greater torque from less effort, increasing the odds that you will free up the prime plug. 🔱 Another trick you can try is trying to tighten the prime plug a little bit. Don't get too harsh and snap the head off the bolt 😱; but sometimes tightening a smidge will free the bolt (prime plug) enough so it can be removed. 🔵Hopefully you've been applying WD-40 lubricant to loosen the rust.🔸🔹 Yes, you could add the water to the place where the pressure valve was mounted; but it would be good to free up the prime plug for any future events where you might need to once again prime the pump. As far as the hammer, hopefully you are only using that for light to moderate taps on the prime plug head to loosen any rust. You don't want to damage the threads or head of the prime plug. So... bigger is not necessarily better. 😒🔨 Let us know how it all comes out.

I am having the same issue now. Home Depot tells me to replace the washer inside the valve, or replace the whole handle. What do you think?
@ntccXerblog Жыл бұрын
@Jirong Hu , Hi. Thank you for your comment. We think you should do what works best for you, given your supplies, skills, and situation. 😊 We chose a rope seal repair. If you do this, once the packing (or bonnet) nut is loose and its threads clean, you can wrap its threads with PVC tape in a single or double layer to prevent leaks there once the packing nut is tightened. Apply the PVC tape, wrapping in a clockwise direction and slightly stretching as you go; this will hold in place while you finish the repair with the rope seal. The rope seal goes on the valve stem and will be under the packing nut when that is tightened down again. The rope seal is also wrapped in a clockwise direction so that it stays wrapped as you tighten the packing nut back on the threads that you covered with PVC tape. Basically, the thin PVC tape prevents leaks between tight metal to metal surfaces (such as packing nut to threads), whereas the rope seal is used to seal larger gaps (such as the space between the valve stem and packing nut). Both tape and seal are applied in a clockwise direction so they tighten as the packing nut is tightened. Remember to tighten the packing nut just enough to stop the leak. Do not over-tighten it; that could cause restricted water flow. Please read and follow the cautions in this video's description. Whatever method you choose, we hope it works well for you. 💦✅
