Whenever I hear Vini playing the guitar, I automatically think it would make a great soundtrack to a film. It would be a very sad or melancholic film involving a lost or unrequited love and probably be in black and white and involve long, sweeping shots of someone walking over the moors or on a beach looking all forlorn. Vini supposedly used to get lots of female fan mail when the Durutti Column were semi famous and I can see why as I've always thought his music sounded massively romantic in a non standard way. I know he hasn't been at all well over recent years and I hope as we reach the end of the year his health has improved and he's enjoying life. His music has never garnered as much attention or critical acclaim as it deserved in my opinion. He should be far wider known as a world class guitarist and composer of tunes.

This sounds like an early version of 4 Sohpia. Rebellion came out in 2001, so my guess is that this was recorded in 2000. Anyhow, this is bloody marvelous..... weak at the knees.

He's not an exclusive Strat man: I saw him live a long long time ago, and he was playing a black Les Paul. In the Domo Arigato's video he appears also playing a (sunburst) LP. I think he had moved from Strat to LP and back several times.

It must have been a hiding-to-nowhere generating interest in instrumental guitar music in the early 80's and so soon after the punk explosion. Still, you eventually learn to like what ya like regardless of what's fashionable.
