The Lick'ettes were the best. Later we got married and had a bunch of jerks.

I never tire of this clip. It is a funny as it was when it was released in 1978.

Genius! Loved his heckler handling. “Is your brother going to be released soon?”… great musicians always in Dans band, and he had the persona of a guy who was just hanging out… so laid back, just hilarious. I loved them doing “How can I miss you when you won’t go away?”… I wish he was still here…

I read on wikipedia that she had a brain damage bleeding and stayed 3 days on the ground before being found. What a lonely person can one become when you get older...

Truly an amazing song that at 15 when I first heard it, it hit me as insightful, powerful and heartfelt. It was also at the time of Sidney Poitier's Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and To Sire With Love, both movies and statements ahead of their time.

Janis wrote this song when she was 14 yrs old and it became a hit when she was 16. That was such a scary time for a mixed relationship. It's amazing how right she was that down the road it would be accepted. For those who are much younger than me, this song was filled with controversy. It was banned on many radio stations, but accepted by the youth who wanted and saw change coming. Janis ralts about how scary performing this song was. At 16 she faced death treats and people ridiculing and hating her. For me she is one of my all time favorite artists. It you get a chance read her book Society's Child. It's well worth the read. ❤❤❤❤❤

I was 7 when this song came out, and for me, it cast Lincoln, the Kennedys, and Martin Luther King Jr in an almost religious light. It felt more religious than religion. I didn't realize that until fairly recently.

Me and my sister didn’t have trauma. We laughed our asses off. Tears rolling, slobbering and falling to the ground because our knees gave out. We were young but we knew who Steve Martin was. We were so innocent. Sometimes me an my sis would sneak our moms records out and listen to them. Steve Martin and George Carlin records. We had to be extra sneaky about it. These were ‘adult’ records. We would’ve gotten into big trouble if we got caught listening to these records
