Oh gosh this brought me to tears. When someone finally reaches out and touches her to signal that they accept her (notice Victoria the white cat looking back towards the other cats, and old Deuteronomy giving the approving gesture)... and the elation on Grizabella's face knowing she belongs again. Just so beautiful.

they used to make us sing this in junior high choir. didn't know what we were singing then, have no interest in finding out now, especially if it's sad and tragic...i'll just accept now what I accepted then, its a pretty song and its fun to sing.

Her voice is very similar in style and tone to the original, IMO greatest, Betty Buckley. I can't hold Jennifer Hudson responsible for the CAT-astrophic film opening weekend, but her American Idol Big Pop Diva voice just doesn't have the depth of sadness imbued by her stage-trained predecessors. As to facial expressiveness, that's pretty improbable on stage, compared to closeup film practice. Stage is all about projecting an exaggerated emotion so it feels correct way back in the cheap seats. The movie may be the greatest flop in recent memory (LOL) due to the fatal mistake of mixing recognizable celebrities, too much CGI, Tom Cruise stuntwork, and forgetting this one song is the only thing anyone cares about, and is willing to wait for.

This song makes me think of all my fur-kitties. Especially the ones I've lost. But believe me, the heavyside layer exists. You will see your babies again. Some might not believe, but one of my babies still comes to visit me. Even though she's not physically here. Ha. Anyway, Love this musical so much! 💞🤗
