I’m trying to figure out why I love this movie so much and I think it’s because it’s really a movie about ambition… albeit the dangers of aimless ambition. I also like when Bronson “breaks through” as an artist he looks and stands as if he is gods gift in those circular John Lennon shades 😂.

This was my favorite film of 2024 and am disappointed that it is in so few Top 10 movie lists or award nominations. I saw this in the theater and most of the audience (men and women) were crying at the end.

Roy Cohn was a real piece of work. He got his start as the lead counsel for Sen. Joe McCarthy, hunting down supposed communists and homosexuals in government. Even though Cohn himself was a closeted gay man. After the McCarthy Era ended in shame, he moved to NYC and ended up becoming a lawyer for many of the leaders of the various New York crime families. At one time or another he represented made members of all 5 major NYC mafia families, including John Gotti. And it is almost certain that Trump, being mentored by Cohn at the time, made many mob connections through Cohn.

The story and character arc of Arthur Fleck was good, but I don’t like musicals so I couldn’t really enjoy the movie. I did enjoy the ending and thought it was a good “twist” and added to the tragedy of Arthur’s story. I also liked this version of HQ, which was appropriate for Arthur’s story and I appreciated the subversion of the traditional character once I realized where the story was going.

The chemistry between all of these actors makes Tombstone the best, most classic retelling of the OK Corral. Nothing about this great Western has ever let me down and i was there to see Tombstone in theaters. What a cast. What an amazing performance by Val Kilmer
