So they work upside down with the black layer being on the bottom as they carve and inlay? Trying to work out how a white table became black. Is the base material being carved just plaster, the same recipe as the inlay mixture?

I believe the table looked white because it was not polished. It is actually black… the dry sanding dust left in the surface is probably what makes it look white. My guess is the inlay mixture is probably more liquidity than the base but you could get the same effect if the black was poured out in the same consistency. Have you had any experience with scagliola?

What is the colored liquid being poured into the carved areas, thin plaster? Although I really like the music, an explanation, either verbal or titles, of what is happening would be FANTASTIC. Is there some finish put over the final product to provide some protection? AFAIK plaster is pretty soft and would easily scratch or chip I would think. Thanks for any help.
