Using ICQ's with YL is okay...but using them with adults... :/ they sound soooo patronizing!

The book is a useful resource, BUT there are many errors. Whoever did the proof reading needs a lesson in phonetics. One example, the word 'horse' does not contain the diphthong /ɔɪ/ 😂

What a great book! Julie's choice of favourite is such a good one for us living in the times of AI and the quick fix our students tend to default to!

Duolingo causes unhealthy competition between users, which has nothing to do with language learning. The purpose of the application is to addict its users.

My favorite introduction: Signal for everyone to stand. They don’t get to sit until they show listening comprehension. Teacher calls out review items. For example, reviewing colors and or clothing: “If you have white shoes, sit down.” Continue with black shoes, a green shirt, blue pants, etc. until everyone is seated. For fun I have a noisemaker to signal mistakes, or I just make an odd noise (sad trombone). Latecomers will end up standing the longest because they’ve missed so many categories already spoken by teacher.

Thanks a lot for presenting a number of ideas on the cutting-edge AI-potentials, which will probably also occupy us ELT teachers a lot, and of which many of us often only see the downsides, if not to say threats (e.g.: essay “programming”). I am also (positively) surprised to get very interesting ideas for ELT in this video, on alternatives to e.g. wordclouds for "priming" purposes, or alerting the students to new topics, by AI-pictures, and I am eager to exploit this new path. Thanks once more for these dedicated and open-minded (shouldn’t all of us teachers be exactly this?) approaches.

Hi @tralaladideldum. Rubens here :-) I'm glad you've enjoyed the video and completely agree with you that we sometimes end up focusing on the problems rather than the opportunities. And agree even more with you when you say we gain form being open minded!!! Good luck with the activities and exploration 🙂
