I'm Diegueño aka Kumeyaay, from the Barona Indian Reservation, we were originally from the coast the Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, our problem was with the Spaniards, they pushed us into the mountains, my grandma told us about the men would take kids and hide them in the caves at night to keep the priests from kidnapping them to use as slaves to build the California missions. She said she the other kids were so scared, but the men took turns keeping watch during the night, during the day, the kids stayed in the middle of the reservation, so they were protected by the adults.

The government still fails many California Native American Tribes. Federal recognition is denied too many California Tribes to this date. Only a small percentage of Native population are taken care of. Many of the California Natives are still outside looking in like American Indian Health clinics ect...

We should stop repeating the old error of calling native people Indians. They are not from India. It is not ok with me to perpetuate this stupid habit. We now have Americans from India in abundance, and these are the only Indians in America.
