Just to understand what he did: 1. **Set the Table Saw**: Adjust your table saw to 3.4 inches (just shy of the 3.5-inch width of the 2x4). 2. **Clean One Side**: Run the 2x4 through the table saw to clean one side, making it smooth and straight. 3. **First Rip**: Place the cleaned side against the fence. Set the table saw to 1.5 inches and rip the 2x4, producing one piece that is 1.5 inches wide and another larger piece. 4. **Maintain the Setting**: Without changing the saw setting, take the larger piece and rip it again at 1.5 inches. Now you have two pieces, each 1.5 inches wide, which are essentially 2x2s after accounting for the cleaned edges. This method ensures both pieces are consistently sized and simplifies the process compared to attempting to rip both sides to 3 inches first, which might lead to inaccuracies.

1:44 Putting your hand on the other side of the blade to guide the wood is one of the most dangerous things you can do while using a table saw. Good tips, but please keep your hand away from the blade.

Great video, thanks! Only thing is a 2x4 isnt actually 2 inches. So you are cutting it to be a 1.75 x 1.75, right?
@mechellestewart84397 ай бұрын
I have a continuous need for 2x2 blocks. Precut blocks are expensive when you go through as many as i do. I had considered taking a 4x4 to cut down to precise 2x2 on my table saw but thought 2x4 may be easier to handle on the saw. I googled it to see how it woukd turn out and found your channel. Thanks for the video!

Right! I cut down to the same size as a “2x2”, which is 1.5x1.5.
