One of my favorite Advent hymns. I really like Scandinavian folk tunes for their simplicity and tunefulness. Oh, and strong congregational singing and imaginative organ playing!

It's not even close to Palm Sunday (in fact, it's Advent as I write this) and hearing this hymn compels me to tears. The power of this music cannot be denied. Very well done.

I doubt there is a better version on KZbin. Whoever your organist is, he or she does a good job.

Good start at clarifying terms... but I would begin talking about liberation by inviting people to imagine themselves a 14 year old African American person in Georgia in 1860. The only term you know to refer to yourself is the "n" word. Now think of people calling your mother or your brother that. That is where LGBTQ+ folk are starting from in many cases.

If we can get a closer microphone next time it would mean a lot it's not too hard to listen but the crowd tends to drown out the speaker. A trans script subtitles would help a lot On phone its hard to listen, but headset is fine.

David Cherwien's organ postludes are frequently at least as crazy as the Beastie Boys performing "Ch-Check It Out" from the subway to Letterman.

After they were confirmed, our confirmands would all kneel at the communion rail and I would have the choir sing this song. Very appropriate for the beginning of a life long faith journey!!

would be interested knowing the choral organization?......the national lutheran choir; most congregations are not that good at harmony......and who is on the console?........Dr Cherwein?

Thomas - on this hymn it is the Mount Olive congregation singing, and Dr. David Cherwien, our cantor, at the organ.
