@@Punicia -as a simple pedantic by-the-by... : Carthage was in what is now Tunisia i think, so he could legitimately be called north African. Was a long time since the Phoenician influence would have played a role in the local aristocratic DNA i'd have thought. Marseille also a Phoenician colony once upon a time but by the time the romans (Bloody romans!!) took it, its doubtful they still resembled their city's founders. ....just sayin likes

In the end when Herod died doctors have now settled on exactly what Herod died of: chronic kidney disease at age 69. On top of that he had complications with a case of maggots-infested gangrene of the genitalia. In the end all the people he wanted put to death so they would mourn his passing were not put to death. He was called Herod the Great because of his amazing skill at creating beautiful structures such as Herod’s Temple, fortress’s, docking port areas and cities built by the sea. Most importantly he wanted the Messiah killed in Bethlehem. In the end there was believed to be about 10 to 20 little ones killed for being male and under the age of two in Bethlehem. But Christ and His family went to Egypt until Herod died. When they came back to Israel the family settled in the Gentiles area of Nazareth and not in southern Israel. The Jewish leaders knew that the Christ child would be born in Bethlehem. It is so sad, the Jewish leaders did not go looking for the Christ child but they willingly told Herod where the child would be born. Could it be they were fearful of Herod’s evil propensity to kill his own children and wife. Or did the Jewish leaders enjoy their power over the people and were not encouraged to find the truth about Jesus. History is pretty amazing.
