<Elio and Oliver being *in love* for .....> While this was a fun movie to watch, I wouldn't say that either were *_in love_* with the other the entire movie.

Elio’s dad’s talk scene with him at the end of the movie is my favorite thing right now. It’s so beautiful and such good advice that I’ve been living by without even realizing it.

I have fallen in love so deep while I couldn't drive my heart, when the passion is really deep (and for the good and the bad I am) even when the other can't love so intensely, we are just slaves of our instincts. And the most profound feelings happen, all the senses are very sharpen, it is so intense and unforgettable... You are really blessed for the bad and good profound feelings you had leaved. This film was the ONE, the only that I could resonate with at that level. they were incredible actors, and it's seems so real that I question if it is possible to act that way not feeling the way it looks. Also great argument. And great father and open family he was lucky to have.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I feel like the purpose of this story (book and movie) isn’t for the love story to blossom necessarily. I feel like it’s meant to make you feel uncomfortable since it’s an innapropriate age gap and elio has an unhealthy obsession with Oliver. And Elio, he’s a victim is he not? An adult man preying on a 17 year old? I love love love this movie and this is just my take on it but I’m curious what y’all think
@tedmink75685 ай бұрын
I don't think so. This view is deviant from what the artists motive behind this work might be. The purpose of this story is to show the process through which a young boy discovers his queer sexuality which in most cases is through both an intellectual and sensous attachment with a slightly older guy. It's the phenomenology of that experience that is vital as opposed to their ages. There is also a philosophical notion behind their relationship that relates to the broader Ancient Greek context within the film, specifically from a speech by Aristophanes in Plato's Symposium...Elio and Oliver reassemble soul mates who at one time were two sides of the same person who were split into two before entering the world as two sperate beings. This story is about their reconciliation so its effectively showing how genuine the love between souls can be irrespective of age, gender and other demographic labels.
