defiantly the best box for that little taste of everything especially at the price, it is kind of expected you have some other hobby stuff like a file and glue for building, a primer would be nice as well, or at least tell you to wash the sprue so the paint sticks better, but the fact you can buy one box and with technically nothing else, get a 3 color painted game going is crazy

This is a great set, and the starter decks have good value to them. You've got to remember that not everyone will be investing the same amount of money as you do into the game, and so won't necessarily have a lot of these cards. I've bought a Trove and all the starter decks for every set, plus a handful of assorted packs. There are still COMMONS I don't have. The current value of the cards in this set is $40-50, which means that you are only spending $10-20 for the Ursula deck portion. $60 is a reasonable price, $50 would be a great deal, and if you can get it for $40 it's a steal. I've bought this and the Gateway box as a way to introduce my 10 year old to the game. The Gateway definitely provides a bit better value, with card value currently $20-30 and a retail price of $25-30 for the box. But more importantly, both of these sets will help my daughter to learn the game without jumping into the deep end of tourney play at our LGS. In light of that, nitpicking over a few dollars is secondary.

As with most things, I'd ask you "what is your goal?" Because if it is just to crack boxes and sell for a profit along side your other product, it is very difficult to buy MTG boxes retail, open and immediately turn a profit. Can it happen, yes. But you probably need to keep an eye on how a set is doing, look for sales from the LGS and places online, and then be strategic with what you buy and what you open. Don't let this one box deter you though, it could just have been a fluke. Enjoyed the vid!!

My goal has always been to make money or break even on opening sealed product. The idea is that if I do that then I'll get "free" cards. I might try again with a different box, but they don't go on sale as much as other TCGS

Great video! It took me a little while to come to terms with the solitaire aspect of deck building and why I would want to make more difficult decks. But as you start deck building you’ll realize that the best part of the game is challenging yourself with cards of varying difficulties and mechanics. And the community challenges are an indirect way to challenge opponents. I also recommend the Partygoer theme deck, which is fairly challenging. We will also be releasing an even more challenging deck soon!

Awesome video man, this is a really cool concept for a product for a tcg. Sometimes I just want to sit down and play a tcg on my own but you can't do that until now. I think they should have made a cheaper version of this where you can just buy the Ursula deck on its own and play against it with your deck. The more expensive version should be a collectors edition with the deck, and premade decks for you to play with just like they have but made the playmat a neoprene one and made it a bit more of a collectors product. Keep up the incredible work man.

It'll also challenge your deck building skills which can be fun. The boss deck really gives you a good amount of "playtime" so you'll get your moneys worth but I agree that they should 2 different boxes, one for the Ursula deck and the other a collectible one. Maybe those neoprene playmats just cost more than we realize to produce.

Small correction here! MTG actually has a solo mode, but it's an oddity from 2013 & 2014 (during the Theros block). There's a trilogy of "challenge decks" from the time (Face the Hydra, Battle the Horde, and Defeat a God) that were designed to be played against 1v1, 2v1, etc. They were never available for retail as far as I'm aware, but you can find them for sale online. I wanted to mention it because there *is* precedent for a solo mode in a popular TCG (but it sadly wasn't very popular and was never expanded upon in MTG's case).
