Big thanks for the external mic plug fixing the static! I got a used one and I even tried taking out the capsule to see if a wire came loose. Was thinking about returning it then ran into your video and what do you know, just plugging in the jack fixed it.

Same issue. I would use Auto then get an Amber light crash and manually try and set the O.C. still Amber crash …. the over clock profile was the only way. Maybe this board isn’t mean for normal use .. 😅.

The ones, at least 3, I bought at least 5 years ago work flawlessly. The 3 I bought these last year are totally unusable. First I thought that it was that one unit that was flawed. In windows device manager the ones that work appear as USB Midi. The ones that don't appear as USB 2.0 Midi. They look the same but the chip is diferent most definitly.

@abdoubbr3181 You mean the dock as a whole? It allows you to carry just a laptop all day for mobile usage but then sit at a desk and connect it to the dock to have many more things connected such as several displays, LAN, USB, Thunderbolt, and so on. It essentially lets you expand the laptops connectivity extraordinarily so for times when you are not mobile or moving around with your laptop. At least this viewpoint relates to my personal use case.

Your video came up in my feed as I've been researching about saddle thrombus in cats. I know it was three years ago, but I'm so sorry for your loss, your tribute video was very emotional. I lost one of my cats, Isaac, five weeks ago to an aortic thromboembolism and I'm beyond devastated. He had just turned 7 years old. I miss him more than life itself, so i know how much you will miss Richochet. He's a very beautiful cat so thank you for sharing his story.

Hi Rokesi, I'm so so tremendously sorry to hear of your loss... it is heartbreaking, I know. Those initial months can be especially trying... hang in there... while it (thankfully) never goes completely away, that initial unlivable period will get better! I've gone through this kind of thing several times... a wreck immediately after, odd feelings when coming home and little man isn't here... those trying moments... uuggh... but hang in there. If you can meditate or chant a mantra or some prayer or whatever your thing is in that way, do it... send your Isaac great thoughts of joy and gratitude for him having joined you in this life for the great journey/experiences you both had. That kind of thinking matters! ... your friend Isaac affected you, will be with you always... and that's a wonderful thing. ... and thank you for seeing Ricochet's video... he was an angel who stayed with me for a good 7 years... my friend, my boy... truly a lovely soul. Be well... things will get better. 🙏🕯

I use a Roland PK-5A Foot Controller Bass Pedal so I'm essentially hitting only one note at a time. It's like a Moog Taurus. I get problems like 10% of the time. A note can sustain but when I hit the same note again. It stops the sustain, this thing is quite strange.

Very nice! But what about heating? I have build mine with ROG Crosshair VIII Impact, AMD Ryzen 9 5950x 16-Core, Navi 10 Radeon Pro W5700, 64Gb Ram and the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280. And I have Heating problems, it goes up to 99 Celsius on some games and about 65 to 78 on regular games. On windows it restarts so I have to do everything now with my ubuntu linux and forget some games. Very disappoint with Ryzen 9 5950x so if you do have issues with heating I'd like to hear any solutions. Thank you

Thanks for stopping by! Thermals have been fine for me, never an issue from what I've seen in hwinfo. I suspect you have a cooling issue as the 5950X, even though it can get up to 90c (acceptable), will throttle... so if you're seeing shutdowns after throttling, my first guess would be a faulty cooling config... I would perform thermal diagnostics, fix any thermal design issues with your build. That you see different results with a different OS may indicate you're merely changing the overall workload to something simpler, less demanding... so best way to troubleshoot a problem is to examine the problem case less any swap testing (which in effect, helps examine the problem case, actually). See the video's description for the other follow-up videos on this build... one discusses that I examined, did not see, thermal issues when examining an unexpected reboot situation. Oh, important point... contact AMD 5950X support... they are very responsive, and if they do not suspect a cooling problem, and instead suspect a processor issue (maybe fixed in stepping update), in my experience they move to RMA... but you will have to go through initial steps, and since you built the system, you should ensure you've performed a proper cooling assessment, have good data to support such. From what you describe, as mentioned, I highly suspect bad cooling that hits a tipping point on what are more demanding Windows workloads not seen in the other OS (a guess... but those are my offhand thoughts). Keep in mind I have Scythe Fuma 2, a reasonably lauded air cooler, all in a very meshy case with two top-mounted Silent Wings for top outflow. Just because you have water cooling doesn't mean cooling overall is great... make sure airflow is good etc. For ITX builds, especially, you must have cooling really really right, no compromises. That's why I went meshy as I prefer the wiggle room such provides, and then I build as though it's not meshy, if that makes sense. Best of luck ... get yiur build working!! 5950X is awesome when you get it flying.

If you want to filter by event id, it is event ID 19 from source "WHEA-Logger" ... if you do not have time to check, no worries. Going back to your system, if it is not private information, what type/speed of RAM do you have, what speed did you set in the BIOS? Thank you so much for checking back... it's good to know someone else observed matching BIOS mem speed had a similar result. @@dimitrisgounaris1820

My biggest problem with this unit (I own 3 of them, one for my home office, and one on each of my 2 offices) is not the length of the cable, but the stiffness of it. It puts a significant strain on the port in the computer if it doesn't sit perfectly straight (effectively shortening the usable length). It is still the best way to connect PowerDelivery + HDMI UHD Screen plus a few of my USB / USB-C Peripherals (Webcam. Audio Interface, MIDI Keyboard ...) which is why I keep using these everywhere. I've tried many extenders, and never understood why they wouldn't work or my screen would flicker... I figured it'd be the extension, but never knew why. Now I do. I've then narrowed my search to finding just a 90 degree USB-C Thunderbolt adapter to help alleviate the strain on the laptops port. Hopefully that works. Thank you for this video, over half a decade after, still informing people. Amazon has dropped the price of this dock significantly, fyi, where it can be had for under $40, making it an outstanding deal.

@PaulSuquet, It's September 2023 ... forgive the delayed reply, just finishing a lengthy break away from the channel. Re the TB16... I fully agree with you... I still use my TB16 quite often, and sometimes with several large external USB storage devices connected through it, flawless... have not had any issues yet (beyond wear/tear leading to a cable replacement). Given Thunderbolt complexities and the abundance of high bandwidth traffic being multiplexed over a TB cable, I was never interested in interfering with Dell's design as they tested it. Given I use the TB16 for HDD connectivity, it's just too risky and my data is more important... meaning there are no 3rd parties between my TB16 and the XPS 15 9560... that is my rule. Given the overwhelming, quite surprising reliability I've experienced, it seems my sticking to spec makes sense. I've seen what happens even with some USB hubs and HDD traffic... it's not fun when it fails. The TB16 has been 100% perfect... no issues whatsoever with boatloads of HDD traffic. Regarding cable length... since this 2017 video, I've moved to a desk top setup... I initially used the TB16 on those small dinner trays and the couch... quite successfully actually... but those situations are challenged by the cable length, but when I moved to a desk setup, issues with cable length go out the door, are not an issue. Anyway, it is super great to hear your experience... it makes me wonder if I should go out and pick up a couple of more. The TB16 and XPS 15 9560 teams should get an industry award. (Yes, I know the 9560 only has two lanes to TB controller... but that's the spec of the unit... given that, it works well, very well for its bandwidth.) Thanks for stopping by, sharing your experience!

This is amazing. Information and thank you so much for taking the time to share this . My cat's back legs went limp and he had problems breathing , when I saw him later in the day he was recovering but after the vet's examination where I was given hope falsely , I received a phone call shortly after speaking to the vet the my TJ was not doing well, they made the decision to put him down without my permissions . I got to the hospital on time to see him when he took his last breath. TJ was a happy , playful cat , he caught a big rat just two days ago, climbing trees and running around. So this was a shock to me and I am struggling to get over it . Not all Vets are kind or Good.

@running4fun863, I'm sorry the loss of your beloved TJ. I'm also sorry to hear you did not have a good rapport with TJ's care providers. Finding the right care providers, and establishing a good rapport with providers can be challenging for all involved as different personalities learn about each other. I fully realize not all veterinary doctors are the same. Obviously, getting over a loss is not easy... I've come to believe one does not get over it as much as perhaps change the way one views the whole thing. Can you put the part number in the description?
@AshleyPurring
@AshleyPurring Жыл бұрын
@emergentmedia3791, Because of potential for confusion around this, I would prefer not suggesting a part number but rather suggest you check your dock for its current cable's part number, or perhaps checking with Dell or an appropriate source. Among many reasons, I cannot say this dock did not have revisions or cable differences across such revisions. I also recall seeing various part numbers for what appeared to be the same cable... not sure why that was... but when I changed my cable, I took risks with my own equipment within my own scope... but I prefer not prescribing part numbers given these nuances and anomalies. Hope you understand. It is 2023 now, forgive the delayed reply, was on long break from channel.

this was a very comprehensive video. tackling things you should expect, specially the placement problem. kudos to that. This device actually interests me. I have a macbook pro that has thunderbolt 3 ports. I'm curious if this is compatible specially that you need to update the drivers of this thing (or was that just windows-specific).

@hireplicity, Thank you for the kind words! As far as I know, the TB16 was built/designed for the PC, not Mac. A quick search on Amazon's TB16 listing shows Q/A indicating it is not supported on the Mac. For the Mac, I recommend looking for a dock that specifically calls out support for the Mac in its specifications. Thank you again... and btw... it is 2023 now, forgive the delayed reply, was on long break from channel.

Ashley it is October 22 and your video from 4 years ago has helped me more than you can know with the situation I was in with Popsie my beloved 6 year old big boy cat. I had the hardest decision to put him to sleep on Wednesday 26/10/22💔🌈, I hope my story will help others and I am so grateful for you sharing your knowledge, hopefully it will help me better care for his 3 siblings one of whom already has a heart murmur. Popsie’s case is very different to yours in that he was a very healthy well cat on Saturday 24/9/22 on Sunday morning I woke to find him hunched up looking in pain, sitting in middle of floor not on sofa like normal. I immediately thought of urinary crystals and got him to emergency vet who sent me home with him having given him pain relief and anti inflammatory injections. His bladder was hard apparently and I noticed blood stained drops of urine but I did not have enough knowledge and went on vets advice and took him home. Although this ultimately did not affect outcome as he was a complex case, I do have massive regret that I did not insist on more intervention at that point. Following a stressful night I took Popsie to my vets who said he could not possibly come home and they needed to investigate more. It turned out he was fully blocked and they referred me to specialist hospital for potentially life saving perineal urethrostomy (PU) surgery. He was stabilised and surgery performed as prognosis for this surgery, terrible as it is was, was very good as confirmed by my vets also. I had insurance to cover it so decided to give him a chance. Unfortunately Popsie did not have a straightforward surgery or post op recovery, won’t detail that here - but if anyone wants to dm me with queries I will try and answer them) upshot was Popsie had underlying HCM and had gone into heart failure. I managed to get him home after 10 days but despite valiant efforts of my vet and my 24/7 nursing care (I am retired PICU nurse) it was not meant to be. Now Popsie was never diagnosed with any heart problems prior to this yet he definitely had thickening of the wall of the heart muscle diagnosed on heart scan in hospital and was in early stage HCM. He had no symptoms whatsoever, he was an indoor cat who enjoyed daily walks on his leash he was very dog like, (just the best cat). My point being that even with regular vet visits and my vet practice is first rate, no issues found other than a bit overweight. Like Ashley I free fed my cats good quality expensive vet approved kibble designed for indoor cats supplemented with wet food in the evening. I provided water fountains which all my cats use. I have beaten myself up over whether I did the right things with diet, kibble for teeth wet food to prevent stones and the kibble was designed to be urinary protective. I also gave Popsie top ups of water orally with a syringe when I got him home as I was concerned he was not drinking enough. This balance with frusemide cardiac drugs and water intake is so difficult and Popsie developed constipation which required lactulose which requires sufficient fluid intake to work. I do wish I had know more (hindsight is a beautiful thing) but for the most part we are just sharing our lives with our beloved cats and doing the best we can. We can’t suddenly become vets or vet nurses. Time spent with our pets is between first acquiring them to death, however long or short this may be and all we can do is our best. The hard decisions around letting them go and the right time to do that is made easier if you have a great relationship with your vet practice but sometimes we have sudden illness or event which is so traumatic it leads to euthanasia. Popsie sort of rallied when it came time to put him to sleep tail in the air bright eyed pleased to see me and nuzzling me. Believe you me I did try to bargain “is there anything more???” But I was never going to put him through more surgery and his heart would prob not have stood up to the anaesthetic. One thing that has helped me, and I know it is not for everyone, I got to spend a few minutes with him before he was put to sleep and stayed and held him throughout. I also took Popsie home straight after and cuddled him while he was still warm. I then curled him up in his fluffy bed, covered him with a blanket so his beautiful face could be seen but not his surgical scars and shaved fur and slept with him next to me on the sofa as we did when he was alive. I was lucky to be referred to a wonderful crematorium where I personally took him and got to spend time with him in the chapel of rest before finally saying goodbye to his physical body. I brought his ashes home in a gorgeous heart memorial with a paw print and I have some ashes to scatter which I think I will do in the area of our local walk. If you can have a ceremony of some sort, previous pets were buried in the garden with a short funeral this does help enormously especially if children are involved. I came across another family going through this heartbreak with their dog in the crematorium and we hugged it was very therapeutic also, so accessing a group who understand what you going through helps too. God bless all of you in your pain. I am eternally grateful for this video 🇬🇧

@sheilajones4491, It is September 2023 now, sorry for the delayed reply but have been on a long break from the channel. I am tremendously sorry, and offer you sincere condolences regarding the loss of your beloved Popsie. It's also wonderful that you detailed your experience because you can never predict "who" might be going through "what" when people are dealing with issues, searching around. I know there were times when I would search for answers and eventually find some post on some forum of someone going through, maybe not the same exact thing, but something close enough that there was resonance helping me take next steps or try something out. Certain surgeries with cats, and more so when they are not planned and the cat is ailing, often seem to come with high risk. I had a cat of 17 years who had a stomach tumor removed... she only lived a few days after the surgery. That you made it for 10 days after the surgery you described sounds fairly remarkable. I know you were going for something better, but cats can be fragile around certain surgeries because they are ailing (so adding factors) and/or the technology is relatively primitive given how small cats are. It seems the more standard a surgery, especially outside of ailments (like spay/neuter), have great chances of success... but my cat of 17 ... her small stomach and tumor... it's a lot. I had another cat of 13 years... she contracted squamous cell... she had amputation surgeries to remove areas no longer treatable. I guess those surgeries are not as intricate or something... she sailed through all that, purring, eating, hanging out. She lived six months through all this... I believe her life was quite prolonged, that it would have ended much sooner without the medical care. So cat surgeries can be hit and miss depending on cat's health and intricacy in connection with technological developments (or not) in the respective area. So, again, in the situation you outlined, with a poor prognosis re the surgery's outcome, that you made it 10 days may well be more remarkable than it seems. We humans won't see it that way but cat internals around surgery... at least this is my impression... are exceptionally fragile... I just think the tech lags behind dogs and humans, and they are simply smaller creatures. (Any readers, do not get negative based on reading this... tech and surgery and vet care is always getting better... ALWAYS ask your vet despite anything you read/hear... find the best specialists, and ask ask ask, see if they can check for latest info with vet schools, all that jazz!) All I'm saying is I've seen cats be generally fragile around surgery of delicate small internal areas, all compounded when the cat is ailing. Perhaps we all know this... but when I was younger, I was thinking, oh, they'll perform surgery, remove the tumor, life will be good... hmmm... not so much. With a human, maybe, with a dog maybe, with a cat... well... maybe but I think (unverified, not a real statistic) it's usually riskier the smaller the pet is.

@christofromuald, it's 2023 now, you're likely well-past your question/issue... but no I do not know where to get a cable for that unit. I would personally ask Dell and/or search eBay. It is 2023 now, forgive the delayed reply, was on long break from channel.
