Do you allow the gliding gold wax to dry and then seal the entire piece with glaze or wax?
@BowTieTreasures2 күн бұрын
I only use top coat but yes for wax and top coat you should let it dry a day or two. Or put the gilding wax over the top coat and it can be buffed after a day or so.

How many coats of stain did you do, and where you whipping it with a rag or something special?
@BowTieTreasures7 күн бұрын
In the end, I used two coats of stain. I used a damp rag to wipe off excess stain the first round and didn't wipe off stain the second round.
@freddysmusic10728 күн бұрын
What kind of brush or sponge are you using fir the stain?

It is a @dixiebellepaint brush, it's called the Scarlet.

Do you seal the furniture before the glaze?

I don't top coat first since I use the misting bottle to keep the surface workable.

This video was VERY helpful! Thank you so much. I'm about to paint an antique china cabinet in linen white rustoleum chalk paint and use the rustoleum aged glaze and hope to achieve what you've done here. It's beautiful. Can you use the spray bottle mist even on matte chalk paint? Thanks!

Try a small section and see. It's been many years since I have used Rustoleum. The concept should work though. Let me know how it goes.

I am glad you like it! 🎬🎬 See the Process of painting demonstration here kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZfddXSrf6l-n6c I used a multi-colored palette of red Dixie Belle Paint Company Chalk Mineral paint on this traditional buffet cabinet. Multiple processes were used including wash layers, shading, and highlights to transform the traditional buffet cabinet into an eye-catching work.

My husband's grandmother had a piece like this; she referred to it as a vanity table. Saw one at an antique store, and one at an auction, both were listed as vanity table or ladies desk.

I didn't see anything missing. From what I can tell it was made to break down if needed but they would have had to remove some screws though. It's different for sure.

What a beautiful unique little piece. Almost like a campaign table, built to travel. I don't understand the desire to leave the old paints showing. It is like wearing ripped jeans. I don't understand the appeal. My father sold and repaired furniture. He taught me about beautiful wood and finishes. I know that dates me. You did a lovely job, just not to my taste.
@BowTieTreasures4 ай бұрын
you are right, I this could be also called a Campaign table I hear. I loved that I could sand down the top to reveal that beautiful wood.

@BowTieTreasures thank you! I'm in Berks County Pa. so to sell something for a true price is next to impossible. Ha ha
@BowTieTreasures7 ай бұрын
@@gailburford1655 This is more of a price for custom work than for buying and selling in my booth. I would be on the low end of that if it was going in my booth. There's a level of risk taken in doing a customer's piece, etc. I hope that helps

One of the other tutorials that use brown wax says that it’s water-based and can easily be wiped off.
@BowTieTreasures9 ай бұрын
I don't typically use wax. For the shading I usually use, Chalk Mineral Paint, Voodoo Gel Stain, or Glaze. I believe if you want to use wax, you might start with Clear wax if you want your darker colors to be removed easily.
