I breastfed my girl for 2yrs. Then I got sick with cancer and when I recovered from the shock and returned from hospital a few weeks later she startet it again herself, she desperately wanted to be close to me .. and I let her. 28 yrs ago, best memory and healing I got from this.

I was told that some countries stop when the child is 5… but waiting until they are 2 (24 months) is best. So my first was 24 months and second was 9 months. I still pumped but I had to go back to work in the office so it was a lot harder to nurse. Don’t regret either one. It all depends on you and what you decide to do.

I NEVER wanted to stop with my 5th…. I knew he would be my last. My last child. My last son. My last homebirth. My last breastfeeding moments. He self weened at 18 months, no matter how much I wish it didn’t end yet 😔 Of course, I got people not “minding their own tits” (it’s a song…not trying to sound rude), and I told everyone that I won’t send the baby off to college while breastfeeding, so all should be ok 😂

I stopped when the teeth started coming in for each of my two youngest. My 2nd we made it to 7 months and 5 months for the youngest. Their older brother barely made it to 2.5 months because I went back to work and pumping wasn’t working so well.
