KJRI DAVAO COMMEMORATES HEROES' DAY 2024 KJRI Davao held a solemn ceremony to commemorate Heroes' Day with the theme “Emulate Your Heroes, Love Your Country” on Monday, November 11, 2024. The ceremony was attended by all Home staff, Local staff, Indonesian Women’s Organization, and representatives from Sekolah Indonesia Davao. The Consul General led the ceremony as the inspector, with the Commander of Indonesian Navy Liaison Officer in Davao serving as the Ceremony Commander. In his speech, the Minister of Social Affairs emphasized the importance of remembering and emulating the contributions of the heroes who fought for the nation’s independence and progress. "We should be grateful that the Indonesian archipelago has given birth to many courageous heroes. These patriots sacrificed their lives and bodies to achieve Indonesia’s independence, which has now been passed on to us," said the Consul General, conveying the message from the Minister of Social Affairs. Indonesia-Philippines Development Forum in Mindanao, Strengthening Cooperation in Islamic Finance and Halal Industry Davao City, Filipina - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City convened the Indonesia-Philippines Development Forum in Mindanao: Developing Islamic Economy Ecosystem in Davao City (23/09). The forum was held as part of the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Bilateral Relations of Indonesia and the Philippines and aimed at strengthening cooperation on Islamic finance and halal industry. The forum was attended by representative of government officials, academe, and businesses groups from Indonesia and the Philippines. Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Philippines, Agus Widjojo opened the forum. In his opening remarks Ambassador Agus Widjojo mentioned that Indonesia and the Philippines, particularly Mindanao, share deep-rooted Islamic traditions that can serve as a foundation for economic collaboration. Ambassador Agus Widjojo added that by harnessing our common values of cooperation, community support, and ethical business practices, we can create a thriving Islamic economy that benefits both our peoples. “Indonesia stands ready to share its experiences, challenges, and potentials in developing an Islamic economy that can benefit both our countries” he assured. In his remarks Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Davao City, Agus Trenggono said that as neighbors and allies, Indonesia is pleased to share experiences and insights on the development of the Islamic economy-a sector that holds significant potential for economic growth and social development in both countries. “By working together to strengthen the Islamic economy ecosystem, we can foster greater economic opportunities, promote inclusive growth, and enhance the prosperity of our communities” he added. Public Division Chief of the Mindanao Development Authority during his remarks recognized the strong partnership between Indonesia and the Philippines. He further emphasized that Indonesia and the Philippines can learn from each other and further nurture cooperation to boost the development of Islamic economy and halal industry which will contribute to the economic growth. After the opening ceremony the forum continued by panel sessions moderated by Program Manager of Halal Development and Trade Office, Aleem Siddiqui M. Guiapal. First panel consists of Director Financial Supervision Department VII Banko Sentral Ng Pilipinas Mary Ann Cube and Chief Economist of Samudera Indonesia Dr. Ebi Junaidi discussed about the development of Islamic finance in Indonesia and the Philippines. Second panel consists of Undersecretary Office of Mindanao Affairs of the Department of Agrarian Reform Amihilda J. Sangcopan, Undersecretary of the Department of Tourism Myra Paz V. Abubakar, Director for Islamic Ecosystem Infrastructure KNEKS Dr. Sutan Emir Hidayat, and Head of Tourism Business Study Program of the NHI Bandung Polytechnic of Indonesia Faisal Fahdian Puksi discussed about development of halal industry as well as Muslim-friendly tourism. Panelists and participants of the forum had actively participated in discussing and exchanging ideas on Indonesia dan Philippines collaborated efforts in enhancing the availability and quality of Islamic finance, and its halal industry; highlighted the importance of building an integrated Islamic economy and halal industry ecosystem and the use of whole inclusive society approach that involved the government, businesses, and the society to ensure a stable and sustainable Islamic economy and halal industry. At the end of session, the panelists shared collective views on the huge potentials of Islamic finance, halal industry, and Muslim-friendly tourism, amid that the market of those sectors is not limited to Muslim but also non-Muslim that seek extended business and its services. The continued activity is the virtual business matching that bridged and facilitated Indonesian MSMEs with the local Mindanao business communities. Indonesia's business groups represented by KADIN Indonesia Trade House and PT ASEI (state owned company on export insurance) have promoted potential products of halal food and beverages, Muslim fashion and agricultural products of Indonesia, and certain Mindanao local business communities have uttered interests for further follow-up arrangements to discuss possible transactions in the near future.

KJRI Davao City Attends Second Dialogue Cities Southeast Asia Conference in Davao City Davao City, 12 September 2024 - The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (CGRI) in Davao City receives invitation and attend the opening ceremony of the Dialogue Cities Southeast Asia Conference held at Dusit D2 Hotel, Davao City. The Consul General of CGRI in Davao City, represented by the Consul for Information, Social, and Cultural (PenSosBud) Affairs, attended the event along with the Indonesian delegation of various non-governmental organizations from Indonesia. This event marks the second dialogue initiated by the International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) in collaboration with the Ateneo de Davao University, taking place from 12 to 14 September 2024. The Dialogue Cities Southeast Asia initiative by KAICIID was first launched during the inaugural conference in Bangkok in May 2023. The program aims to promote unity and cooperation between cities in Southeast Asia through Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (IRD/ICD). IRD/ICD highlights the importance of regional cooperation and dialogue in addressing the challenges and opportunities faced by rapidly urbanizing cities, especially concerning women and youth. The initiative focuses on promoting IRD/ICD as a tool to enhance the participation and inclusion of women and youth in city development solutions across Southeast Asia. Over 100 participants attended, including policymakers, experts, practitioners, municipal representatives, and faith-based organizations. They shared experiences, lessons learned, as well as innovative approaches, practices, and policies in addressing these current issues.

Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City Gives Appreciation to 12 UMY International Community Service Students On September 9, 2024, Consul General Agus Trenggono of the Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City received and conducted an exit briefing for the UMY 2024 International Community Service Team at the Meeting Room of the Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City. This event was held in order to end the series of UMY International KKN events held in the Quilantang and Balunto areas, General Santos City on August 8 - September 9, 2024. the 12 UMY International KKN students presented their Activity Report during the KKN in General Santos City, including teaching Indonesian, training in creative ideas for utilizing the surrounding environment to improve the community's economy and basic health checks. Consul General Agus Trenggono expressed his support and gratitude to UMY for helping to foster and increase the capacity of the Indonesian community in the work area of KJRI Davao City. UMY also expressed its gratitude to the Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City who had helped and guided them from their arrival until their return to Indonesia.

CGRI Davao City Invites the Davao City Environmental and Natural Resources Office for a Waste Management Standards Socialization Event in Davao City On September 4, 2024, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (CGRI) in Davao City held a Socialization Event on Waste Management Standards at the Canopy of the Indonesian School Davao (SID). The event was attended by the Indonesian Consulate's home staff, SID teachers, and all SID students. It began with a welcoming speech by Mr. Harya K. Sidharta, Head of the Chancery, who expressed gratitude to the Davao City Environmental and Natural Resources Office (CENRO Davao) for their willingness to directly provide socialization to CGRI Davao City and SID. Waste management is a crucial issue in maintaining environmental cleanliness and health. With the growing population and increasing activities in the area, the volume of waste generated continues to rise. Without proper management, waste can become a problem for human health and the environment. To address this, CENRO Davao provided education and socialization on the waste management standards used in Davao City. They also offered guidance on proper waste management and classification. The event concluded with a discussion session on KJRI Davao City's efforts to follow up on the waste management recommendations from CENRO Davao. Di sela-sela penampilan diadakan undiah dengan puluhan hadiah beserta grand door prizes dari para sponsor dan home staffs KJRI Davao City. Babak final dari lomba ketangkasan dilakukan menjelang panggung gembira. Pengumuman pemenang lomba olahraga dan ketangkasan dilakukan dengan pembagian hadiah vouchers dari sponsor, piala serta mendali. Hadiah diberikan kepada para juara sebagai bentuk apresiasi atas sportivitas dan partisipasi dalam kemeriahan perayaan HUT RI ke-79. On April 24, 2024, the Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City held the second series of technical FGDs entitled "Tuna Trade Industry: Understanding the Export and Import Regulations of Indonesia and the Philippines" in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian Embassy in Manila, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources - Davao Region, and PFDA - Davao Fish Harbor Complex held at DusitD2 Hotel and Resorts, Davao City, Mindanao, Southern Philippines. The activity was officially opened by the Indonesian Consul General in Davao City, Mr. Agus Trenggono and acting as FGD moderator was the Economic Affairs Consul, Ms. Novita Supit. In Congen’s opening remarks, the Indonesian Consul General in Davao City highlighted Indonesia as one of the largest tuna exporters in the world, and in this case encouraged the development of cooperation in the fisheries sector between Indonesia and Mindanao. Some local government representatives include Mr. Relly B. Garcia, Regional Director of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources - Davao Region, and Mr. Christian Cambaya, Acting In-Charge of the Davao City Investment Promotion Center, representatives of Hon. Sebastian Z. Duterte, Mayor of the Davao City Government, conveyed their message of support for the event and expresses appreciation to the Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City for initiating a program with the tuna industry which is very beneficial for the fisheries sectors of Indonesia and the Philippines - Mindanao. At this activity, the Indonesian Consulate General in Davao City presented four competent speakers in their fields to share knowledge regarding fishery export and import regulations, such as Dr. Miftah Farid, Director of Primary Product Export Development, Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia; Mr. Martin P. Hutabarat, Trade Attache of the Indonesian Embassy - Manila; Engr. Albert P. Aguinaldo, PFDA Port Manager - Davao Fish Harbor Complex; and Ms. Maybell T. Jumento-Tan, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources - Davao Region. The FGD activity which was also carried out in a hybrid manner was attended by representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs - Mindanao, Davao City Investment Promotion Center, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources - Davao Region, PFDA - Davao Fish Port, Bureau of Quarantine - Davao Region, Bureau of Customs - Davao, as well as from the business sector (fish importers) starting from Davseatic Enterprise Company, Glaukos Trading Corporation, RMJ Asia Seafood Trading, Four G Seafoods Trading and from members of the Davao City Chambers of Commerce Inc, as well as online participants from Indonesia and the Philippines. During the discussion, business actors from Mindanao expressed their desire for sustainable tuna supplies from Indonesia, and hoped that tuna supplies could also be obtained from the closest border area to Mindanao, Southern Philippines, namely North Sulawesi Province.
